There's some backstory that nobody cares about, ridiculous romance with a reporter, and friendship with fellow fighters - whilst Army CID Agents are trying to bring him back in - but it's mostly just padding to get you to the next round. Not sure why this movie hasn’t been released stateside, but this 4K release is everything I could ask for a movie of this age.

We reviewed the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Bloodsport on an LG 55B7 Dolby Vision 4K Ultra HD OLED TV with a Panasonic DP-UB820EB-K Dolby Vision HDR10+ 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. You can see the beads of sweat across Van Damme's muscles while he does his ridiculous moves, the lines on the craggy face of Forest Whitaker's older CIC companion, the detailing on the wood panelling and background nuances. self-promotional, but covers such a broad range of subjects that it's got a little something for everyone. Inside a hidden Hong Kong arena, elite combatants clash in the Kumite, the little-known but hotly contested world championship of full-contact fighting.Their Ultra HD Blu-ray delivers a frequently excellent 4K picture that's not without its limitations - partly the result of the original filming style. more "readable" detail on foreground and background objects alike, such as the urban Hong Kong signage and even costumes. The German release is pretty English friendly but you still get the German language on the menus and back of the packaging.

No Westerner had ever won this titanic tournament - until iron-willed American Frank Dux entered it. The packaging is worth its own mention as Bloodsport gets a trio of different special edition packages to choose from - mirroring the Mediabook style popular in Capelight's native Germany.
