About this deal

This book was such a lovely read and pulled at my heartstrings, broke my heart and put it together again through the course of the story. I'm not going to include this book in my big hype big lie shelf yet because I honestly didn't have many expectations for Happy Place.

i’m sure i forgot something and i’ll definitely come update this but at the end of it i do still love emily henry as an author and i will continue to read whatever she publishes. Millions of thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing 2023's most anticipated book's digital copy with me in exchange for my honest review! I have seen a lot of complaints that the plot is based around miscommunication and if only the couple had just sat down and talked things over then there wouldn't be an issue.

Trust Emily Henry to take the fake dating trope to another level with the messy complex history these two share and the spiralling lies. In my review, I noted that it lacked some of the polish of Book Lovers, but that was fun to be able to go back and see where she started, so that you can appreciate her progression and growth as a novelist. Harriet and Wyn are the perfect couple – they go together like bread and butter, gin and tonic, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

The cottage is for sale so this is the last time they’ll all be together here and they can’t bear to break their friends’ hearts. How hard could it be to stay in the same room, touching and kissing your ex in front of others when you are still harboring your unresolved feelings? Was it only long distance, did one of them cheat, or is there any crucial, life-changing reason that tore them apart? That doesn't mean they're perfect, but they put in the work to keep their friendships in a solid place. When their annual group trip to Maine comes up, Wyn and Harriet find themselves pretending to still be together. The Break-Up- More than half of this book is putting us all through this absolute all-consuming agony and heartache for these two people who so obviously deeply love each other and are both completely shattered and heartbroken. Siento que este libro golpea una fibra sensible también con las amistades longevas, la gente cambia con el tiempo y no se puede seguir viviendo cómo 10 años atrás pero cuando las personas son importantes para ti siempre se encontrara la manera de conservarlos en tu vida. the reason why i loved this book so much, was not the romance but harriet’s introspection and character.

Sabrina started dating their long-time friend and party boy Parth, and Cleo is happily farming and dating her hyperactive, extrovert lover Kimmie. Sin duda Wyn es el que ha robado mi corazón, el tipo es lindo dese el primer momento con su encanto juvenil y su coqueteo constante pero a medida que la historia avanza también descubrimos sus miedos e inseguridades. Social media, cause tell me why I thought of wyn the second I saw someone selling their tables on tinder? For one glorious week they leave behind their lives, drink far too much wine and soak up the sea air with their favourite people. wyn’s constant need to feel loved or feel like he matters, and harriet’s constant fear that she will make people around her unhappy—i feel like it will eventually crash and burn again. And if I am being totally honest, I felt like the ending was not enough payoff for the all the emotional trauma we were all put through.

weirdly, i still don’t believe that he and harriet fully understand the reason that they broke up or they didn’t work out. Henry’s new novel is a slow-burn romance and an ode to the chosen family we need when everything gets too complicated…The beach-read master hooks us again. Henry does a really nice job of bouncing between the present week in Maine and flashbacks that let us see the evolution (and dissolution) of Harriet and Wyn's relationship. The plot was well constructed, the reader was as much in the dark about what had really caused the break up as Harriet was and that felt very true to life. harriet has a tendency to push everyone away, including wyn; and wyn has a tendency to worry and overthink things—which in time ended up clashing together but it was handled so immaculately, i found it bearable and i just wanted to see them both get their happy ending. My favourite moments were their ‘past’ dialogue – exemplary examples of the kind of impossibly fervent, devoted, nostalgic yet playful conversations that you read romances for. Harriet is invited to her Happy Place, where she has spent her most meaningful, unforgettable, sentimental moments with her best friends Sabrina, a hotshot lawyer, and Cleo, an aspiring farmer.
