About this deal

Meir Kahane, an ultra-nationalist Knesset member, who founded the American Jewish Defense League and the banned Israeli Kach party, worked towards Greater Israel and other Religious Zionist goals. Max Blumenthal's Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel is the most important political and investigative journalist book of 2013. The first, found in Genesis 15:18–21, seems to define the land that was given to all of the children of Abram ( Abraham), including Ishmael, Zimran, Jokshan, Midian, etc. Blumenthal responded in another issue of the magazine, saying that the Alterman review was a smear, loaded with inaccuracies that are refuted by several authors. He is from Lieberman’s party but unlike Lieberman, who’s an atheist, he’s a religious nationalist who was one of the original Gush Emunim settlers, he was a lawyer for the Gush Emunim.

Riding into Lydda in an armored car he dubbed the “Terrible Tiger” at the helm of the 89th Commando Battalion was a little known career soldier. Of all the aftershocks in the Blumenthal saga, though, none is more telling than his October 17 appearance at the University of Pennsylvania. The debate and criticism, however, usually missed the point: Blumenthal presents a preponderance of evidence that leads inevitably to a sort of judgment that surpasses the verisimilitude of balance. Lannan Foundation Cultural Freedom Notable Book AwardIn Goliath , New York Times bestselling author Max Blumenthal takes us on a journey through the badlands and high roads of Israel-Palestine, painting a startling portrait of Israeli society under the siege of increasingly authoritarian politics as the occupation of the Palestinians deepens.Anyone who talks that way is deluding themselves", [11] making this statement just two days before privately reaching out to the Palestinian President with Israel's broadest ever peace offer. This is coupled with a status quo that maintains an Israeli military occupation over Palestinians and a system of apartheid as recognised by the world’s leading human rights organisations, including Israel’s own B’Tselem, whilst also encouraging and solidifying the establishment of Israeli settlements. Palestinians are now non-people, relegated to the shadows and policed by a conscript army composed of people not only indoctrinated with hate but actually instructed to make life as unbearable as possible for them.

Dana Shalala, the former Clinton labor secretary or health secretary, (she made such an impact on me that I can’t remember), is a Lebanese-American. The exercise will be enacted using high tech long distance weapons to teach the Palestinians a lesson with the minimum of Israeli casualties. None, however, have addressed the actual irrefutable evidence of past and present ethnic cleansing that the book documents. As his journey deepens, he painstakingly reports on the occupied Palestinians challenging schemes of demographic separation through unarmed protest.A Chicago Sun Times reporter wrote of the Israeli forces, describing Operation Danny as a “blitzkrieg. I don’t know why he is the one who gets published to talk about the Nakba, but it is still nice to see some kind of recitation of the history even if he gets the history slightly wrong.

He misrepresented Blumenthal’s substantive assertions about Israeli “fascism,” “racism,” “militarism” and more (entirely untrue). Goliath is worthy of consideration as a serious work of journalism, and, to a lesser degree, historiography. This book is excoriating and worrying – packed with compelling detail that makes it hard to put down. Significantly, he demonstrates how the injustices in Israel/Palestine did not start with the occupation, recounting the well-documented process of ethnic cleaning that enabled the foundation of the state of Israel.
