HD’s writing will easily whisk you off to dark storms, haunted mansions, scary woods and places where shadows linger for a little too long. The last 3 books I've read have all had overly submissive, nearly braindead females as the MC and I am so sick of it; they would take entire books or a whole series to grow themselves a backbone and it was purely credited to the man in their lives, so this was such a breath of fresh air!
