LOCTITE ® purple threadlocker has many uses, from carburetor screws to eyeglasses to small screws on laptops.

Medium-strength applications are those that require disassembly with standard hand tools without heat on ¼” to ¾” (6mm to 22mm) fasteners for easier service and maintenance. If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals (stainless steel, aluminium and plated metals) or low temperature (below 5°C), use activator LOCTITE® SF 7240 or LOCTITE® SF 7649 (see cure speed vs activator graph in the TDS). They were invented to solve the common problem of loosening that happens in most threaded assemblies. This adhesive can be applied using our syringe barrel dispensers or direct from the large bottles using our metering valves, controller and pressure pot. Ideal on all mechanical parts, body assemblies, and hundreds of other applications to prevent loosening of fasteners from shock and vibration.It is a high strength anaerobic threadlocker, designed to permanently lock metal threaded components. For removal, it may require localized heat (>550°F/260°C) and then disassembly with hand tools while still hot. LOCTITE® 2701 is a green, low viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive with high strength, especially for chromated surfaces. The product is thixotropic, which reduces the migration of the liquid adhesive following application.
