This fall, Barbie will release a “Styled By” Barbie, complete with glasses and necklaces from Apfel’s own Rara Avis collection. The Barbie® Styled by Iris Apfel doll celebrates the vitality, wit, and unwavering fashion sense of a true original. And now there's another fab new design to get fans excited, because creator Mattel has just announced a new Barbie doll modelled on 96-year-old style icon Iris Apfel.

Iris also runs a hugely popular Instagram account, and in 2016 appeared in a television advert for French car DS 3.Self-defined as the “oldest living teenager,” she infuses her sense of wonder, humour, and curiosity into her bold, highly colourful designs. The range featured dolls based on iconic women from history such as Frida Kahlo, Amelia Earhart and mathematician Katherine Johnson. Apfel confirmed the news on her Instagram account, before posting a picture of the Barbie accompanied by the caption, “Isn’t she cute?
