This distance may not allow you to get as close to your subject as you would need for true macro photography, where the goal is to capture extreme close-ups with high magnification.

Unlike some of the plastic lenses we see on modern DSLR lenses today, the lens has an all-metal barrel, a metal mount and even a metal hood. The main difference between the 35mm f/2 WR and the XC version is that the later is not weather sealed and it’s made out of plastic rather than metal. has two rings on the lens barrel – a focusing ring on the front of the barrel, and an aperture ring close to the mount of the lens. The latter being one of the most miraculous the most miraculous piece of photographic equipment I have ever used.I opted for the 23mm f/2 instead for my travels before eventually adding the Fujifilm 35mm f/2 to my collection. Lens Review, Sample Images, Fujifilm XF 35mm f/2 R WR, Fuji XF 50mm f/1 R WR, fujifilm XC 35mm f/2, Fuji XF 35 1. Ghosting ( hence an impression of softness) is very observable when wide open at close distance especially in high contrast scenes such as white letters on dark background. Topping the wish list is silent autofocus and the lens getting the WR badge for a weather-resistant lens.

lens is known for its exceptional optical quality, delivering sharpness, contrast, and excellent color rendition. You may have guessed, based on what I said above, but my personal opinion is that for the vast majority of you, the XF 35mm F2 R WR is the better choice. s field of view gives you more of an opportunity to get a series of compelling images from one location. It has this sort of dreamy character (more about that in the review further down), and in the arena of sharpness, I think the 1.It may sound like a silly and hypothetical scenario but I have often wondered what it would be like to free myself from as much gear as possible with just one versatile and powerful camera lens combination.

The images below were captured during various outings to see how the lens would react in different lighting conditions, and it never let me down once. There are several manual focus third-party options available and especially the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0. does not have bad onion ringing to it, but it does have some skin to the outer layer of the bokeh balls but as you can see from the samples above, it’s not really an issue and you’ll only see it if you’re really looking for it. In my opinion, this is a significantly faster autofocusing lens than it ever was before thanks to firmware updates, and tech in newer camera bodies.

The lighting was difficult because there were a lot of shadows, and some areas where it was bright from a sky window.

It does not happen very often though, that the reviewers comment on lenses’ personality or on the character of the images they produce. There are certain characteristic of every single lens produced on this planet, that are usually being taken under the loupe by the most experienced lens reviewers: sharpness, presence or lack of chromatic aberrations and purple fringing, vignetting and distortion, quality of the bokeh, and – last but not least – the built quality of the lens itself. If you’ve been following me on Twitter or Instagram, you’ll know that I recently caved and bought the Fujifilm 35mm f/1. At least next time if I ever need to use this lens as a pseudo-macro lens for closeup shots, I know that I need to shoot it at F2 or above. This makes is perfect for events and wedding photography but can easily be used for artist shots as well. The lens also offers a shallow depth of field, providing beautiful background bokeh and subject separation, which can add an artistic touch to photographs.
