Onto the box that led to the development of Heroes - Celebrations launched two years prior to the Cadbury equivalent. To illustrate the differences between the two eras of selection boxes, Roses, like Quality Street, had their flavours specifically made and wrapped in coloured foil compared to Celebrations and Heroes later using brands that already existed. Like Heroes, they comprises miniature versions of the chocolate brands owned by the manufacturer - Mars. Gooseberry Cream (green wrapper, light green fondant with a touch of Gooseberry Preserve covered in milk chocolate)

His idea was to cover the different toffees with chocolate and present them in low-cost, yet attractive, boxes. Heroes, of course, have been around for nowhere near as long as Cadbury's other selection though they now feel like they have been available for a long, long time. Unsurprisingly, given that the brand has been around for the best part of 85 years, there have been many flavours that had to be sacrificed to make way for the current crop. Toffee Deluxe (replaced by Honeycomb Crunch, reintroduced and then replaced by Chocolate Caramel Brownie)Again, like Quality Street, because of the blank canvas available to Cadbury when it came to making the flavours, coupled with it being in supply for almost a century, there have been plenty to fall by the wayside: Golden Barrel (gold wrapper, previously named Caramel Keg); Caramel (blue wrapper); Country Fudge (light brown wrapper); Hazel in Caramel (purple wrapper); Hazel Whirl (purple wrapper with orange edges); Strawberry Dream (pink wrapper); Tangy Orange Creme (orange wrapper); Signature Truffle (red wrapper with blue edges) and Cadbury Dairy Milk (the only chocolate in the selection where the wrapper doesn't bear the 'Cadbury Roses' logo, it returned to the box in 2020 after initially being dropped following its move to Heroes). As for the brands that’ve been lost, there have been a surprising number given the selection has only been in existence for just over 20 years. He also introduced new technology, the world's first twist-wrapping machine, to wrap each chocolate in a distinctive wrapper.

It’s worth noting that many of these experienced minor alterations while others were dropped altogether. Almond Octagon (purple wrapper, replaced with Vanilla Octagon, but the latter is now discontinued as well)
