The one thing that unites them all is that everything enjoys a fresh and modern twist - making this the perfect collection of recipes for a new generation of food lovers and Italophiles. A fresh take on one of the world's most adored cuisines - much-loved classics with creative twists for today's cooks Big Mamma's Cucina Popolare puts a clever contemporary spin on tradition featuring more than 120 delicious, easy-to-prepare, imaginative recipes. In February 2019, they opened their first London restaurant, Gloria in Shoreditch, and shortly after in June 2019 they opened Circolo Popolare in Fitzrovia. And in contrast with recent successful restaurant cookbooks ( The Quality Chop House; St John), the recipes don’t translate well to a domestic kitchen.

Founded in 2015 by Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger, the restaurants are inspired by their travels from Naples to Milan, as well as Florence and Rome. It’s generosity of flavours, its reverence for the finest local ingredients and its rowdy, all around the table shouting vibe (sorry) are still some of the best things you can sit down to. So, if you can’t get to Shoreditch or Fitzrovia, do it at home with the help of this book and big mamma’s tips. Since avoiding gimmicky names proved impossible, I went for the recipes that sounded doable, tasty and vaguely Italian. Publishers Weekly "Big Mamma includes 130 recipes inspired by its chefs who contributed dishes [with] silly names that reinforce the company motto to embrace food - and life - joyfully.

seven restaurants in Paris (BigLove, Pink Mamma and more), one in Lille, two in London (Gloria and Circolo Popolare), and with more to come. Italian restaurant group Big Mamma burst onto the London food scene earlier this year with the opening of Gloria , the 70’s Capri-style trattoria in the heart of Shoreditch. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or when a cocktail stick (toothpick) inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. If you're yet to hit up cult London eateries Gloria and Circolo Popolare, Big Mamma, the group behind the buzz, are bringing their twist on Italian cooking straight to your kitchen with a cookbook.

To put it simply : we understand that not taking reservations can be inconvenient for our diners, but we have to weigh this consideration against the fact that we’re trying to offer high value-for-money by squeezing our margins.Sheerluxe "This is an ideal cookbook for readers who are looking to create Italian dishes with a contemporary twist.

Each of the 13 locations (nine of which are in Paris) has established itself as a success, assembling lines of people waiting to get in that wrap around the block for each meal service. The book’s design is based on the brightly coloured hand-painted ceramics from Fima Deruta that are so loved in all of Big Mamma’s restaurants. Created in collaboration with one of the most exciting and successful Italian restaurant groups in the world, the dishes in this vibrant and accessible book include true classics such as Risotto alla Milanese and Tiramisu, while others reflect the most creative Italian food today, with such intriguingly named dishes as Burrata Flower Power and Double Choco Love. A large book with wonderful photographs, a nice grosgrain ribbon page marker, and clearly written recipes.

Part of Big Mamma’s success in Paris, London and Lille lies in the very personal way they source their ingredients. Having said that, we snaffled them within minutes of them coming out of the pan, scalding our mouths on the oozing cheese.
