There is no question, the V11 Outsize is a notable improvement over the V11 Torque Drive & Animal. However, it’s also more expensive. In contrast, the V10 only has a low battery indicator to show how much cleaning time is remaining. It also doesn’t have a screen. Despite the similarities, we think the V11 is the better vacuum for carpet cleaning. It does a great job at cleaning both low-pile carpet and long pile carpet, and has plenty of brush bar power for agitating carpet fibres. The V10 is also excellent at cleaning carpets, but the lower brush bar power and suction mean it’s not quite as effective.

Recharge Time. The V11 takes 4.5 hours to fully recharge, compared with the V10 which only takes 3.5 hours. Dyson V11 Torque Drive– The Torque Drive is the cheapest model to include the new High Torque floorhead (and hence the Dynamic Load Sensor technology.) It also comes with a mini motorised tool and several non-motorised accessories. Even if it is avaialble in your country, in many cases it seems to be less common at major retailers and therefore, harder to find and buy. The battery on the Dyson V11 can last up to 60 minutes, depending on the type of cleaning that you’re doing. Unlike the V10, the V11 steps it up a notch, by also including advanced floor sensor technology that automatically adjusts the suction as needed to accommodate floor types.

What Other Stick Vacuum Should You Consider?

The Dyson V10 battery is supposed to last up to 15 years, according to Dyson’s founder, James Dyson. We haven’t seen a statement from Dyson on V11 battery life, but we expect it to be at least as good as the V10.

Automatic Suction Adjustment. The V11 has several advanced features not found on the V10, including automatically adjusting suction (when in “Auto” mode and using the High Torque floorhead.) This conserves battery life and makes the vacuum more efficient. Australian customers have even more choice, with three different models of the V11 up for grabs. All three come with the Torque Drive cleaner head and LED display screen, differing only in the number of included cleaning accessories. March 13, 2020– Corrected on error on the V11 Outsize’s suction power, which is actually 220 AW (we previously reported 185 AW) Stubborn dirt brush: This brush has bristles that are slightly further apart than the bristles of the dusting brush and they are also much firmer. This is a handy tool for scrubbing dirt from hard surfaces like floor tile or heavy-duty abrasive textiles. For whatever reason, Dyson decided to not make a V11 Absolute version…at least not for most countries. It is available in some countries, including Canada and the UK. However, it’s not available in the US. Another similarity is the front-facing barrel arrangement that allows you to attach heads directly to the unit for a bench-top vacuum or to the far side of a tube for floor applications. What is new to the V11 however, is the ability to clip your accessories onto the vacuum itself – a useful touch for anyone who's found they need another head when on the far side of the house. If you don’t have hard floors, or want a cheaper alternative, then the Dyson V11 Torque Drive is still a brilliant vacuum. It doesn’t include the Soft Roller floorhead, but has the Torque Drive floorhead that can make use of the V11’s automatic suction adjustment. The V11 is also more advanced than the V10. The addition of an LCD screen showing remaining battery life makes it more convenient to use. We’re also big fans of the adaptive suction technology, as this maximises battery run-time without sacrificing performance.
