She wants to be left alone with her family’s castle. He wants to show off the home he has just inherited. Neither of them can win. It was very tough to raise the financing for the movie and convince distributors that this can be a commercial movie. I signed the contract with the Anne Frank Foundation in 2013 to complete the film by the end of 2017, and we hadn’t even started in 2017 because we didn’t have the money. If you enjoy Regency Romance novels, I highly recommend this book! I had such a difficult time putting it down, and basically read it in one sitting because I could not wait to see how everything worked out. Kitty feels like she is burden to her family. With her parents dead and her brother a wealthy merchant her options are few and her likelihood to fit in with the tons prejudices are slim. Eleanor Daventry has come into money, but she cannot access her inheritance without a husband. Steadfast and independent, she would rather become a schoolmistress than take a husband she does not love. For both, what began as a friendly bet between two bored guests at a ball turned into an earnest desire to help their protégés find happiness. And if some deeper feelings should stir in George to win Alice’s heart, then he has no choice but to dampen them. After all, Lady Alice has sworn she will not marry, and George has applauded her decision. For him to try to weaken her resolve now would be…unsportsmanlike.

To continue reading, we just need a few details...

For a sweet regency romance this story was so unique! It was a marriage of convenience that actually centered around the hero trying to woo the heroine into inviting him into the wedding bed. But it was done so delicately (By both Jennie and most of the time by Phineas haha). At the start of their London Season, Philippa Clavering discovers her friend, Susan, is being pursued by the wrong gentleman and decides to turn Susan’s head to a worthier suitor. Not one to shrink from what she views as her duty and gift, Philippa sets in motion plans to bring about the happy ending her friend deserves. What she does not expect is to have Susan’s older brother watching—and criticizing—her every move. Kitty is an interesting heroine. She lives in the household of her wealthy older brother, Erasmus Stokes along with a younger brother, her sister & brother-in-law, and their children. She loves the younger children, but there is a bit of friction in the household. When she learns that her brother has negotiated her marriage to Lord Haywood, she is not happy but rationalizes that things can’t be much worse than her current situation. a b Houghton, Rianne (1 July 2021). "First trailer for Bridgerton and Luther stars' new thriller". Digital Spy . Retrieved 12 April 2022. With a few well-placed words in the right ear, Anna Tunstall can direct anyone to do her bidding, exactly the skill needed for one destined to be the wife of a man in politics. A summer visit to a friend’s country estate is the perfect distraction before the London Season begins and Anna can achieve her ambition of a perfect match.

There isn't much plot at all besides the main romance, which is unrealistic at best, but in terms of floofy escapist romance, it was pretty good ;) Phineas was a really sweet hero, Kitty was a charming heroine, and you couldn't help but root for them. Orphaned at a young age, Eleanor wants nothing more than to settle in a home of her own. Stratford, having met once with betrayal, desires a woman who will be true. When a complicated inheritance forces them together, they little expect this to be the answer to their innermost desires.

Was his mother happy with the result? “Yeah, so she’s a Jewish-Polish mother and when I screened the movie, her first reaction before saying she loved the movie, she said, ‘It’s a great movie, but let’s face it, it took you twice the time the Holocaust itself took, just to make it.’” I was really excited to be asked to be apart of the tour for this lovely little book. It was perfectly paced from start to finish and I loved every minute. Despite the arduous journey it took for his film to finally see the light of day, Folman remains positive. He is never more enthusiastic than when talking about his experience working with The Anne Frank Foundation.

I'm giving this a mighty generous 3 stars purely based on enjoyment, because I gobbled it up in a few days and could not put it down. I just HAD to get to the point where they finally admit their looooove for each other and finally spend the night together (the book is all clean though, no worries). I suppose that either Mary or Beatrice must have married a man with the surname 'Harrison' - and that couple would be the parents of John George (and would be my paternal great grandparents). My father (Mike) took over the umbrella factory on Grafton Street sometime in the 40s. Marianne Edgewood is perfectly capable of running Brindale Castle, if only the task would be left to her. A centuries-old house of stone is solid, unchanging, whereas people are not to be relied upon. It matters little that a stranger inherited the castle. She must simply find a way to stay. Willelm Armitage is a born-and-bred Yorkshireman, and as far as he is concerned, Juliana belongs here, too—here at his side. However, the one time he dared to convince her of this, she speedily gave him the right-about, making him question whether she truly is the right choice for him. After all, if she cannot see how well they suit, why should he force her hand ?This is the first book of Jennie’s I have read and it will definitely not be the last. Jennie’s writing was beautifully done and I soaked up every word of this lovely book. The characters and development are written to perfection and, though the “marriage of convenience” trope is not necessarily my favorite, I found myself quite inclined to enjoy this book. (See what I did there? 😉) Lord Haywood seems most interested in Kitty’s dowry but is pleasantly surprised with her beauty as she walks down the aisle. However, this is a marriage of convenience, not a love match. The well-written story describes the transition from being strangers to friends to devoted and affectionate marriage partners. I listened to the audiobook of this charming marriage of convenience story. Katherine has two choices--marry or be a caregiver of her brother's children. Her brother basically sells her off to Lord Hayworth, who's trying to save his estate with her dowry. These two had quite the journey from marriage of convenience to love. His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet is a stand alone Regency romance in the Season of Change Series. The story begins when Kitty’s brother, a successful businessman, matches her with Phineas Stropford, Lord Hayworth, without telling her for his own gain and Lord Hayworth’s. The story follows Phineas and Kitty’s wedding and new life. We find out how they navigate an array of challenging relatives, neighbors, new friends, servants, and their relationship with each other. It is a delightful marriage of convenience story with a satisfying ending.
