Description

Ultra-low-molecular-weight-HA (<50kDa) is a controversial ingredient and might work as a pro-inflammatory signal molecule This rich, CeraVe Moisturising Cream is formulated with essential ceramides to protect and repair the skin's natural barrier, whilst providing all-day hydration. Developed with dermatologists, this face and body moisturising cream is suitable for dry to very dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin. What Are Ceramides? Applying skincare products that contain ceramides has been proven to help reduce eczema, and protect the skin barrier, reducing dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and dullness. One study from 2008 showed that using skincare products containing ceramides had a significant effect in clearing mild to moderate eczema.

CeraVe Moisturising Cream for Body and Face with Pump

For me personally, the CeraVe lotion is the clear winner if you have very dry skin as it’s fragrance free, moisturising, and available at a very affordable price. I noticed that in the United Kingdom the CeraVe Moisturising Lotion is recommended for “Dry to Very Dry Skin” whereas in the United States the same product is recommended for “Normal to Dry Skin”. If you have dry skin like I do, CeraVe or Cetaphil are my favourite brands for producing hydrating and non-irritating skincare products. Both companies are recommended by dermatologists and have products that treat a variety of skin concerns including atopic dermatitis, dry patches, red skin, or eczema.A very common type offeared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reasonparabens. It's a cheap, effective and well-tolerated ingredient tomake sure the cosmetic formula does not go wrong too soon.

All CeraVe products, including their Moisturizing Lotion, contain three ceramides: Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP and Ceramide EOP. In fact, it’s the ceramides in CeraVe’s formulas that are the reason for the “Cera” in the brand’s name! Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid in Skin Care The famous Vaseline orPetroleum Jelly. Just like mineral oil, it is also a by-product of refining crude oil, aka petroleum, and it is also a mixture ofhydrocarbons but with bigger (C18-90+) carbon chain length. The unique thing about petrolatum is that it is the most effective occlusive agent known today. Not only a simple moisturizer but knows much more: keeps the skin lipids between our skin cells in a healthy (liquid crystal) state, protects against irritation, helps to restore barrierSo far we were writing about ceramides in plural. It's because there are lots of different ceramides, a 2014article writes that currently 12 base classes of ceramides are known with over 340 specific species.Chemically speaking, ceramides are the connection of a fatty acid and a sphingoid base and both parts can have different variations that result in the different types of ceramides. Ok, so now we know what ceramides are, let's see what they do in our skin: research shows clearly that they play a super important role in keeping the skin barrier healthy and the skin hydrated. If ceramides in the skin are decreased, more water can evaporate from the skin and there is less water remaining in the skin. So ceramides form kind of a "water-proof" protecting layerand make sure that our skin remains nice and hydrated. Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe Moisturizing Cream for Face and Body has a unique formula that provides 24-hour hydration and helps restore the protective skin barrier with three essential ceramides (1,3,6-II). The formula also contains hyaluronic acid to help retain skin's natural moisture. The moisturizing cream utilizes patented MVE controlled-release technology to help replenish ceramides and deliver long lasting moisturization. The moisturizing cream is non-comedogenic, fragrance-free and oil-free. There is emerging research about Phytosphingosine that shows that it has antimicrobial and cell-communicating properties and is considered part of the skin's natural defense system. It is also believed that skin conditions such as eczema are as a result of a compromised skin barrier, and fewer ceramides in the skin.

Overall I had a good experience with this product however I would recommend the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream over the lotion for the colder months since the cream is more moisturizing and protective. They are waxy lipids that can be found naturally in the outer layer of the skin (called stratum corneum - SC). And they are there in big amounts! The goopy stuff between our skin cells is called extracellular matrix that consists mainly of lipids. And ceramides are about 50% of those lipids (the other important ones are cholesterol with 25% and fatty acids with 15%). Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product. Like with ceramides, the amount of hyaluronic acid in our bodies decreases as we get older. As the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin reduces, the skin is more likely to start sagging or develop wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid also plays an important role in wound repair. A real oldie but a goodie. Great natural moisturizer and skin-identical ingredient that plays an important role in skin hydration and general skin health. Rich, velvety moisturizing cream formula features hyaluronic acid to leave dry skin feeling smooth and comfortable

I have very dry skin and found that the lotion did a good job of moisturizing my skin and reducing dry patches. Eczema

A very common silicone that gives both skin and hair a silky smooth feel. It also forms a protective barrier on the skin and fills in fine lines. Also used for scar treatment. It’s pretty much the current IT- preservative. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben. The CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is a non greasy lotion designed to retain moisture in the skin throughout the day, and keep the skin barrier healthy and strong. The key ingredients in the product are ceramides (Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP and Ceramide EOP), hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), and glycerin. Benefits of Ceramides in Skin Care
