This is a special book for me. Sometimes we refer to soul books. This definitely qualifies. I swear, I entered another plane of consciousness when the idea for this book first feel in my head. I’m so in love with every step of Bear and Silas’s journey. This is a book about two lost souls that find each other and heal each other and build a love out of friendship and trust. It’s about healing and finding a new normal. I really liked Caleb. Such a bad boy. I felt like the group was complete with Jake, Caleb, and Rachel. Like, what more could you want? Caleb was super hot, and I liked seeing him dom. My name is Rachel Price, and two months ago, I walked away from the perfect man. We shared one magical night. No names. No strings. I never thought I'd see him again. I was wrong. But this isn’t just sex for me, Rachel,” Jake adds, his face solemn. “Hell, at this point, I’ll settle for just breathing your air. I’ll rub your feet on the couch after a long day. I’ll do your laundry. I’ll hold your purse while you shop for trail mix. That’s how crazy I am about you. I have to be me, and this is who I am. This is how I feel. Move in and be with me. With us. Whatever that looks like to you, we’ll figure it out. Just give me more than this nothing. I can’t bear another second of the nothing.” Welcome to the EMILYVERSE! My name is Emily Rath (pronounced just like wrath) and I write swoony, cinematic, character-driven fantasies and romances. You can expect my books to have big casts of characters, lots of drama, lots of kissing, and unpredictable magic. I currently live in Florida with my husband, son, and cat (who frequently guest stars in my tiktoks). We regularly comb the local beaches looking for shark teeth.

The thing is, her night with Jake was a one time thing, no name or phone number exchange, just the best night of their life... 𝘴𝘰 𝘧𝘢𝘳 ;) What I mean by that is that it has all the potential to go off in a very big way. Like Guy Fawkes style explosion. This Gunpowder Plot was also foiled. We’re told over and over how Rachel is a liability, how knowing her and being associated with her murky past will drag all the others down with her. It’s all very cloak and dagger… And then it’s all a bunch of smoke and mirrors. I laughed throughout this book. It is such a feel-good book. I just had so much fun reading it. I liked that Rachel has a different relationship with each man. That they were able to build a family together without jealousy coming between them. I loved that each man brought something different to the relationship and that each one got something from the others. They build a strong cohesive unit. It truly is a all for one and one for all. Authors are nothing without their readers/reviewers, especially indie authors, who rely so heavily on word of mouth. Right,” he laughs. “Well…these are the guys, right? What are you calling them—your boyfriends? Your squad? Your pussy posse?” Jake snorts, his mouth open like he’s about to speak. “Don’t,” I snap. “The first of you to refer to our relationship as the ‘pussy posse’ will be the first voted off the island. Agreed?”Team with Ilmari aka Mars as goalie, the complex Finnish (teddy)bear with a big heart to match his 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 big "heart" lmao I didn’t mind Mars (loved the Finnish) but I wasn’t in love with him. He felt very random. Like Rachel just wanted another guy and she would’ve added more if she felt like it. I did like his story with Rachel helping him with his injury and getting recruited to the Finnish Olympics. Even though the group ends up meshing pretty well together, Mars still felt like the odd man out.

Tik tok bullied me into reading the series, and I’m halfway through the first book and wish I had some guide because I don’t particularly care for the eroticism and I keep getting blindsided by it haha. She sighs. “So where does that leave Caleb?” “He’s mine.” The words come out on instinct, and I find there’s nothing left to be said. It’s the truth. Caleb Sanford is mine. I want him to be mine in all ways. But I’m afraid.” When Rachel started having feelings for Mars, she had a conversation with the other two guys, which made sense because she was in relationship with them. So, she had to know if they were comfortable with Mars joining the harem. But....when Jake and Caleb get together, there was no conversation. It was just, oh she knows me that's it. I wish Jake spoke to Rachel about that. Join my FB Group for exclusive first looks at art, reader chats, and don’t miss my monthly live sessions at The EMILYVERSE: Emily Rath’s Reader Group Two, same time Mars said he wanted to see how she is with the other two, and he didn't mean sex. But, then yup she let's Caleb touch her and wanted Mars to watch. Sure Mars contented but I feel Caleb came off too strong on him, and Rachel didn't even say anything. But, that's not the main thing though. Same scene extends to Jake joining them, and nobody asks Mars to consent whether or not he wants to watch. But, Caleb just goes on bossing them for more.

One more thing I wasn't happy about was the family life, say somewhere around 80% of the book gets over and then we meet the twin and her family. She talks about Price family comes first, but there was no conversation between them for a good chunk of the book, at least to the readers. My name is Rachel Price, and two months ago, I walked away from the perfect man. Sweet and funny, and so hot it should be illegal—we shared one magical night. No names. No strings. I never thought I’d see him again. Two moments, I wish was written differently : One, Rachel shouldn't have outed Caleb and Jake to Mars, no matter the situation. It just wasn't her place to do, especially since Jake didn't even realise it then. Jake Compton – the golden retriever defenseman who loves ice cream and bird watching. Also best friend to Caleb.

I’d been Prom Queen, Cheer Captain - high school’s most savage Queen Bee. I could have everything I wanted. I LOVED Jake so much. He was so fun and hilarious and brought a lot of positivity to the group. Probably my favorite because he was first, and I’d wear his sweater any day. I also really loved his bi-awakening with Caleb. So sweet (and spicy, let’s be honest) to see. I did feel like his character kind of fell off towards the mid point. He started out very confident and then just became super needy. Absolutely loved That One Night Jake though! I can’t believe she’s wearing his jersey! I mean, I know they trauma-bonded over his injury. And now the Finnish Olympic scouts are here. But I was here first. She should be in my jersey!” Not my number. The little witch is wearing 42 on her shoulders now. My gaze darts over to Caleb and I see the 31’s on his shoulders. They switched jerseys. The asshole has the gall to blow me a kiss and wave. Rachel slaps his hand down. I’m going to kill him.”
