About this deal

There is also a carpet for the main living area. A good addition that protects the floor and makes it warmer in the winter. The down-sides Weight – 19Kg The end, or front, door has a zip down each side and rolls up to the top to stow out of the way when open. The side door has a C shaped zip and rolls up to one side when open. It occurred to me that I should have recorded a stop motion video of us showing how to put up the Berghaus air 8, instead of arsing around and pretending that I had magic powers to summon the inflation on my video (see below)…it’s on my to do list! But basically, it’s very simple. I struggled with my old school thinking and imagined an air tent would be all floppy and pretty useless in a wind. Relative to their poled cousins, an air tent is generally heavier. Not really an issue unless you have a long way to carry it. This is alleviated by the wheeled bag that the tent comes with. Size

Both doors have fine mesh screens. This will keep the bugs out while stillngiving heaps of ventilation. The porch on the side door keeps the rain out so keeping it open and using the mesh screen will work well on a wet day. Fully waterproof – 70 Denier flysheet with 6000mm Hydrostatic Head and fully taped seamed with a rain hood above the door to keep you and your belongings dry. A rain brow above the door prevents fly sheet run-off from dripping inside the tent. Tips for deflating the tentThis is where an air tent shines. A peg in each corner and out with the pump. A few pumps and not much effort later all the “beams” are inflated. It’s then just a matter of pegging out the guylines. Easily less than 10 minutes. Dropping your tent is a simple matter of releasing the air valves and it just collapses. No poles to unthread from their sleeves. Wind resistance and stability The outer tent is made from a blue 70 denier fabric with a a 6000mm Hydrostatic head rating and all seams are taped. This is not a flimsy toy tent. It’s extremely waterproof and strong.

Leave it for a few minutes for the air to escape and roll up. This can be a bit of a faff and needs to be done well so it fits in the bag. It’s a tight fit. What comes with a Berghaus Air 4? It’s worth considering the ‘ Berghaus essential bundle‘, (which includes a lightweight, waterproof, insulating carpet) at the same time as your tent to save money. Extras for the Berghaus Air 8 tent

The tent is protected from the top and the bottom by way of a flysheet that has been seam sealed and fully taped, with a heavy duty groundsheet beneath (which our youngest tripped over without fail every time she entered or left the tent). It’s generously ventilated with high and low-level vents and meshed doors for improved airflow and condensation control, which can be easily sealed in the event of bad weather. The breathable inner tent is made of 185T dark polyester which only lets in a small amount of light and lots of air. This makes it easy to get a good nights sleep. You can buy a footprint that goes under the tent to protect it. This is a groundsheet that is cut to be exactly the right size and shape for this tent. It comes with its own pegs and a bag. A great way to protect your investment. There are luminous guy-lines which saves the embarrassing trips in the night. Dimensions Standard version – 3 air beams

Recommended tent pressure: between 4psi and 7psi – temperature and outdoor pressure can affect the pressure within the tube. Please note over inflation can cause the tubes to burst. There is an extension porch which adds a huge 8.5 m2 extra space outside the side door. It comes with its own groundsheet and pegs. Expensive but worth considering if extra space is important. Bear in mind that you could buy a small tent for the same money. One of my main concerns was how to repair Berghaus tent if we had a puncture. We didn’t have any during our 3-week camping trip, pitched on a variety of terrain, but the tent comes with a repair kit, just in case. Are there any downsides? This is the real strength of an inflatable tent and the Berghaus Air 4 is no slouch in this department. It’s simple and fast… Going up… I’ll admit I wasn’t entirely convinced by inflatable tents before our 3-week family camping trip to France and Spain. Running through my mind were endless questions – how do they work? What is an air tent?! How do you decided if you want a Berghaus Air 8, or some other tent? Surely poles are just as easy (and cheaper)? Are Berghaus tents any good? What if it gets punctured – won’t that be a faff to fix? Some might say I’m an overthinker, but if you’re investing in a tent that’s going to stand the test of family holidays, then it’s worth getting it right. There is a zipped access point on both sides of the tent for an electrical hook up and the central beam is fitted with velcro cable routing to keep wires tidy and out of the way. There are also large doors at the front and rear for greater flexibility, and both are equipped with fly mesh inner doors to help manage the climate inside. The tent sleeps families or groups of up to 8 people and has 4-berth bedrooms at each end, with living space in the middle. It feels really spacious and you can stand up easily throughout. Like a normal tent, you roll it out, lay it flat on the ground and peg down the corners first. To pump up the tubes, you start at one end and work your way down.

The main living area is large with space for 2 chairs and a table. We favour putting a chair on each corner by the inner tent and having a table in the middle. Great for relaxing, cooking or eating. First off, let’s just find out the fundamentals! What exactly is an air tent and why would you want one? Inflatable tents are exactly the same as an any other tent, except for one significant difference. In place of traditional metal, fibreglass or plastic poles traditional poles, the tent has inflatable beams, which can be pumped up to provide a sturdy structure. How to put up a Berghaus Air 8– is it easy? Berghaus air 8 layout – 8 man tent – tunnel design with 2 pre-attached bedrooms and 1 spacious living room. If you are looking to reduce the hassle of long and complicated putting up and taking down of your tent then inflatable air beams are the way to go. Strong and stable. It is an excellent construction method that erects really fast. And why not?
