to 7:00pm ... LAUGH FOR LIFE COMEDY: A CHARITY COMPILATION SHOW: Henry Churniavsky ... Comedy ... Green Man Gallery – Workshop Room (86b) Brummie star Harriott works his room with impressive, unforced aplomb. He's as casual and as genuine as a John Bishop or a Danny Bhoy. Easy going and naturally funny tales of self-improvement, tough choices and a bag of animals. The 'Animal Man' section, where Harriott recalls an annual school event where a strange guy would show the entire assembly hall a limited but spectacular menagerie of creatures, is a superior piece of mainstream storytelling in a show full of such sections. He never goes hard on the accelerator; the punches are subtle but never artless. He knows his assured voice gives him the bandwidth to take his time and really set the scene, let the spot-on weirdness of the details season the funny without overpowering the telling. to 9:00pm ... ALICE: REC Youth Theatre Company ... Theatre ... Buxton Community School – Drama Studio (2a) Dr. Lyons points out that the satisfied feeling you get from writing down tasks actually has a psychological basis. "There is some interesting research about mobilizing," he explains, "where even just writing things down can help reduce stress, because we’re motoring some of that energy and anxiety into action." Plus, he says, "Some things you just can't type out," such as emphasizing important notes by underlining or highlighting. The press sometimes prefer images that don’t look like publicity shots, so get good quality shots either from the production or a photocall in Edinburgh. Take a look at arts coverage in the national newspapers to see which photographs are used and why. Dr. Lyons points out that the benefits of having a planner or agenda aren't just aesthetic. "Often, structuring our time takes us out of a reactive mode and out of a place of urgency, and as a result we're more proactive with our time as opposed to reactive. And that, in and of itself, lowers our stress levels and makes us more able to manage our attention efficiently. Trying to complete a task while holding our entire agenda for the day in our heads is an inefficient use of our time and energy, so that ends up leaking out and we aren’t able to be as efficient as we could bein other important facets of our lives, like our relationships and our self care. There really are a lot of ramifications for not being efficient with our time management." What to Look For in a Planner to 1:45pm ... WHAT IF BY PATRICIA DOWNEY: Spanner In The Works Theatre Company ... Theatre ... Underground at The Old Clubhouse (21) What a fantastic performance from Andrew and Corrine. Each character was sensitively and accurately portrayed down to the finest detail. I laughed, cried and laughed some more. A really funny and deeply touching play that takes you through a whirlwind of emotions. Massive congratulations to you both, I was blown away by your talent and professionalism. I can't wait to see what you do next! to 2:45pm ... DARK HORSE: INSPIRED BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS: Delila Theatre ... Theatre ... Rotunda Squeak – Pavilion Gardens (33kb)
