About this deal

Nicci Harris has created something powerfully dark and mesmerizing within the district that is equal parts exciting and disturbing. She shines in crafting novels that toe the line between dark and dangerous, and sweet and sexy, which culminates into a deliciously sinful story of passion, truth, and acceptance. Those words are dangerous. Just about as dangerous as the world I was born into. As dangerous as the ruthless bastards that I call family. One trope I can’t stand and avoid at all costs is the pregnancy trope. The pregnancy usually takes over the storyline, and the lovers seems to lose themselves and their spark and what makes them “them”, but I pushed through and I’m glad I did. The author made sure the characters stayed true to themselves throughout the whole story, and ya know what? I didn’t mind the pregnancy one bit! In fact, it added to the story in such a good way, and I wouldn’t change a thing! I was completely blown away with this book. If you haven’t read Our Thing you need to read it first. Because this is the second book of Cassidy and Max’s story. I mean, his love is so beautiful it’s almost touchable. He is so beautiful,,,,, crazy, funny, deadly, cute, adoring, vulnerable, possessive, protective, desperate, monster, lover, savior, owner, giver,,,

The characters in "Our Thing" are charismatic with bold personalities that tug at your heartstrings. I quite enjoyed the contrast between Cassidy, the district's sweetheart, and the total alpha male vibe from the district's most notorious bad boy Max Butcher. "Our Thing" is good girl meets bad boy, District style and I loved every minute of it. I really wanted to dislike this book because damn was Cassidy annoying, but for the life of me I couldn’t. It was everything. Max Butcher is without a doubt going to make your panties drop and walk themselves to the laundry basket because there’s no point in wearing any when Maxipad is about. The guy has every lustful book boyfriend trait all perfectly moulded into a tattooed hunk of a man. He’s broody, possessive, alpha, charming, sweet, sexy…. And the stamina of the man JEBUS (IYKYK)Cassidy is the golden girl of the ballet, with a giant crush on the bad boy of the district and watching him fall for her is amazing! Max totally broke me though: in the best way: his all-consuming love for Cassidy: chapter 34 of Cosa Nostra absolutely destroyed me…and like Cassidy: I love Max Butcher: Menace. I was sad about how the book ended and he did not learn about what happened after, but that means there could be another book which I am hoping. I believe this book definitely is for mature readers and can be a standalone book like stated, but also makes me want to read the others to understand the story better. I loved how the author gave very descriptive details on what happened at times. It caused me to be able to visualize what was happening in that exact moment. I will also admit this was a book I was able to sit and read all day due to being so absorbed into it.

Georgia Hart and Rupert Channing narrate this audiobook and I really enjoyed their performances and were fantastic in bringing the Ballerina and the Butcher Boy to life! no condom use or discussion even though he has been whoring around and she was actively sleeping with her fiance This one was slightly darker than its predecessor and I really got a feel into just what Max’s life entails working in the district. We also get some questions finally answered some I guessed others I didn’t. We still don’t know everything but a picture has now started to form that is becoming clearer book by book. While in real life I appreciate Cassidy’s family’s concerns about how controlling Max came off, but when I’m reading these types of books I leave my feminism at the door and choose to see his “overbearingness” as “protective” 😌 He probably didn’t help his case by snapping at anyone who tried to come between them, including her siblings… Their dynamic may not have seemed balanced but they were each other’s anchors and it was actually so beautiful to see. The events that take place at the end were so bittersweet which was only driven home but Nicci’s letter afterwards! Max’s letter made me cry and Nicci’s kept those tears flowing 😭 I miss this couple so much already and I hope we still get to see a lot of them throughout the rest of the series 🥺

The story starts off with Cassidy finishing a dance tour and heading home to her 18th birthday party with her gay best friend Toni. There she meets the tall, sexy, intimidating Max. Growing up as a Butcher boy, he is no stranger to violence but he struggles to find his place in the Empire of Corruption. Second time was like could not having enough of it cuz' I'm still sad about they have one book, so I'd re-read here and there. After finishing Their Broken Legend I had to read again. And I'm damn happy to read more of them especially with more kids. Cassidy is a focused ballerina with a crush on Max Butcher, she has watched him from a far but never spoken to him, until her birthday party where she gets drunk and ends up telling him how hot he is. This group is a safe environment, where readers c Welcome to Some Like It Hot!, a group for those of us who love to read and write romantic fiction.A talented ballerina Cassidy lives and breathes for her art it’s been the sole focus in her life until now that is when a certain handsome butcher boy one with a delicious filthy mouth starts to take precedence. Right from the onset, she’s hooked despite knowing that for Max this is little more than sex. Until it isn’t and Max finds himself throwing out his entire rule book when it comes to one certain alluring dancer. the h is a sweet innocent 18 year old ballerina - I thought she was great. She’s loyal and practical and has big dreams Bottom Line? Overall, I really liked it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Max was my flavor of j/p hot, Cassidy was my flavor of sweet. The story was solid. I plan to read the next book. But the unnecessary prison story line and the need for an editor to remove the excess put this at 3.5 stars for me. 😅 Chapter 10 ~ "I love you Max Butcher," I whisper. "I don't deserve you" –he presses his lips to mine– "Cassidy Slater. I'm keeping you anyway. " ♥︎ Her sweet-talking mouth says those dangerous words. Words I didn't know that I craved. She waits for me at night. Accepts the darkness around me.

Emotional, sensual, dramatic, tragic, romantic, erotic, kinky, intimate, touching,,, the list is long. You can believe,,, feel their love even if you remove all L words and sex scenes. Only Nicci Harris could have me rolling in tears from laughter one minute and then pulling my hair out the next. "Our Thing" went from zero to call the fire brigade hot, insanely fast and I loved all the twists and turns and surprises. The premise of one simple act causing a chain reaction of chaos was sheer brilliance. I also want to mention I really enjoyed the balletic details scattered throughout. It’s clear Nicci Harris is either a former dancer, or she just really put a lot of time into her research. Either way, brava! The characters are charismatic with bold personalities that tug at your heartstrings. I quite enjoyed the contrast between Cassidy, the district's sweetheart, and the total alpha male vibe from the district's most notorious bad boy Max Butcher. "The Duet" is good girl meets bad boy, District style and I loved every minute of it.

His world is going to intoxicate her. The dangerous men that he calls family will want to use her, tutu and all. As the youngest leading ballerina in my academy, my days are set. Routine. No time for boys. Unfortunately, my mind didn't get the memo, because there is always one name playing on my lips. . . Max Butcher. Anyway I was pretty on board with this book until the very end, just like the last book. The author throws us a punch to the teeth. This couple has suffered plenty, and the twist at the end, concerning their baby, hurt my heart and pissed me off. They didn’t deserve that. 🤬
