About this deal

There is nothing better than coming home after a long day, lighting a candle, and relaxing. There are many types of candles, however, there are few wax candles that beat the coconut wax candle. But the problem is that continuous cultivation of the same land over several years eventually leads to a decline in fertile and usable soil.

The majority of that land has been cleared to grow the palm trees from which palm oil and then palm wax is derived. The land being clearcut is home to some of the oldest and most diverse rain forests in the world. The incredible rate of deforestation in Indonesia ranks it as one of the world's largest CO2 emitters. This means that there are certain limitations when it comes to creating different shaped and sized candles. As you can imagine, this leads to massive deforestation. That means that growing oil palm trees isn’t very sustainable. Is Palm Wax the Same as Palm Oil? The process of molding the wax into a candle is toxic. Known carcinogens such as acrolein and animal-based acids give paraffin wax its texture and harden the candle for use. This process is harmful to the environment and humans.Carnauba wax may be used as a mold release agent for manufacturing fibre-reinforced plastics. An aerosol mold release agent is formed by dissolving it in a solvent. Unlike silicone or PTFE, carnauba is suitable for use with liquid epoxy, epoxy molding compounds (EMC), and some other plastic types, generally enhancing their properties. [ citation needed] It is not very soluble in chlorinated or aromatic hydrocarbons. [8]

Understand that we do not make decisions like this lightly. We know that customers like you depend on our products for your business. Proceeds from palm sales pay for your families Christmas presents and college funds the same way that they pay for our employees health care and time off. But we will not support a product that is as destructive to the environment as Southeast Asian palm wax, even at a time where the economy forces us to pay attention to every penny. We feel deep regret for misrepresenting this product, even though the information we were given was falsified. This situation has inspired us to dig much deeper into our supply chain and make sure that there are no other similar problems. But just because a product comes from plants, it doesn’t automatically mean that it’s eco-friendly. When coconut wax and beeswax are blended, you’ll be gifted with an amazing candle that throws scent well and burns relatively slowly. However, since soybeans are grown in more places, there’s a greater chance to obtain locally sourced soy wax which cuts down on greenhouse gas emissions from having to transport the wax.

Coconut Wax

Palm wax can actually biodegrade in as little as two weeks if the conditions are right. 7. Is Palm Wax Compostable? Oil palm trees are perennials that live approximately 25-30 years in an agricultural setting, as opposed to other crops that are annuals. Since they do not get mowed down every year, the soil does not get disturbed; less tilling equals much less erosion and polluting runoff. Palm wax produces beautiful candles due to the wax’s natural crystalline ice-like appearance. The resulting palm wax candles look more stylish, eclectic, and high quality than other kinds of candles. A lot of companies refuse to even work with palm wax for those reasons. However, the good news is that things are starting to change and companies are adopting more sustainable farming and labor practices.

Palm wax has a high melt point, which means it can withstand higher temperatures than other types of wax. It is also harder than different types of wax, making it ideal for use in candles.Carnauba consists mostly of aliphatic esters (40 wt%), diesters of 4-hydroxycinnamic acid (21.0 wt%), ω-hydroxycarboxylic acids (13.0 wt%), and fatty alcohols (12 wt%). The compounds are predominantly derived from acids and alcohols in the C26-C30 range. It is distinctive for its high content of diesters and its methoxycinnamic acid. [6] Finally, palm wax is advantageous in terms of cost-effectiveness, when compared to other kinds of candles. FRAGRANCE ESSENTIAL OILS Be prepared for the truth that some scent natural oils wont work in palm wax. We relatively good principle is that if it really works in soy, it will work in palm. Numerous locations where sell scent natural oils usually state if they are suitable for soy. For each 10-15 scent natural oils you test, be prepared to have possibly the one that works great. Once again, this might be my opinion and just what has been my experience. You could encounter something different. Expect you’ll make sure test. You will know when you have successful. Your candle will smell awesome! I’d focus on 1 oz. of scent oil per 16 oz (1 lb) of wax. I’dn’t concern yourself with getting an electronic digital scale so you can determine 1 oz (body weight) of scent oil. Only get a go glass and measure 1 oz. (volume). It will differ with all the real body weight of this oil yet not adequate to concern yourself with. If the candle smells great and performs good, choose it. Palm wax has the capacity to hold even more oil. In the event that you anticipate making huge amounts of candles, then I would start thinking about getting a scale and carrying it out others means. To best answer this question, it’s important to analyze where exactly palm wax comes from, how the palm trees are grown, and how the wax is made. Where Does Palm Wax Come From?
