About this deal

I was surprised at just how disappointing I found the Watermelon, Peach and Wild Berry flavours. They tasted incredibly synthetic to me – more like cheap sweets than fruit. A key consideration is the premium you pay to get on board with this craze. Not only are the bottles more expensive to buy than competitor brands such as Chillys, but there's also the ongoing cost of the Air Up Pods. Without a pod attached, the bottle doesn't work - you'll need to keep an empty pod attached if you just want to use it as a normal water bottle.

Dishwasher: we smeared the inside, bottle caps and drinking spouts with greasy Vaseline and then washed each bottle in a dishwasher on its hottest setting. After washing we shone a UV torch on each bottle and examined them for any uncleaned spots (Vaseline glows under UV light). A popular plastic manufacturer has responded to claims the lid on one of their reusable water bottles is “hoarding bacteria”. Stanley claims that it will keep water cold for 11 hours, iced for two days and hot for seven hours, and we certainly noticed how cold it kept our water in testing. Note that if you are looking for a leak-proof water bottle, this wouldn't be your best pic, as it will leak if turned upside. Dry it with the lid off. As most reusable water bottles are leakproof, leaving them to dry with the lid on will likely trap humidity and odours inside.

This was in response to a number of complaints from customers who were having difficulty cleaning the caps. a 650ml tritan plastic bottle, available in five colours (charcoal grey, ocean blue, hot pink, sunset purple and royal blue) It's a tough bottle, too, suffering only light scratches after we dropped it 10times, when full, onto a hard surface.

Our verdict: Although children will love the design, we found a number of issues with this Nuby water bottle during testing. The father-of-two told the Press Association: “I noticed her bottle and wondered if it was that making her ill. I looked at it and the lid did not come apart, I tried to unscrew it but couldn’t so I broke it apart with a knife and looked inside,” he said. Kids obviously won't accept that as an alternative, though, as what they're really after is an opportunity to show off owning the Air Up brand to their peers, and to get excited about trying out the snazzy flavours.Plenty can't go in the dishwasher. But washing them regularly is important to prevent germs building up. Sistema recommend you remove the cap from the bottle, extend the pop up sipper to the open position and put the top either in the dishwasher or hand wash and then place in water for five minutes with a sterilising solution. When you attach an Air Up Pod to the top of your Air Up bottle, the pod releases a scent as you drink, giving you the impression that the water is flavoured when it hasn't actually had anything added to it. Our verdict: Easy to use and watertight, this practical water bottle from Ion8 also sailed through our durability tests.

Yeti is a versatile water bottle brand that offers a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. This 26-ounce Rambler is a great everyday option that's comfortable to hold, doesn't sweat and is easy to drink out of, thanks to the perfectly sized cap. Like all of Yeti's Ramblers, this water bottle's lid unscrews smoothly and has an oversized handle that makes it easy to hold. We especially love that the lids are all interchangeable amongst the various Rambler bottles that range in size from 12 ounces to 64 ounces. Strawberry-Lemongrass, Kola, Ice Tea, Strawberry-Lemongrass, Orangeade, Yuzu-Rosemary, Cherry Kola, Lychee-Rose, Virgin Mojito More: 12 times unsuspecting people found absolutely disgusting things in the food they were about to eat To make matters a worse, at the time of writing the plastic pouches the Air Up Pods come in aren't recyclable at all, although Air Up does say it's working on changing that soon. How easy is the bottle to drink out of? Some reusable water bottles have a narrow opening, sharp edges, or use a bite valve, which requires some effort on your part. Straws: Once a child has grown out of baby bottles the next step might be a bottle with a straw. These can either be made of tough plastic or softer silicone. We've found that some of the softer silicone straws don't stand the test of time and children will nibble through them given half a chance.

Material: There are three main materials used to make reusable water bottles: plastic, glass and stainless steel. Plastic water bottles are usually lightweight and durable, but they can sometimes absorb the flavor of tea or coffee. If cleaned properly, glass water bottles won’t impart any flavor into your water, but they can be delicate or heavy. Stainless steel is a lightweight alternative and is often used for insulated bottles that are great for keeping hot beverages hot and cold beverages cold; they're often not dishwasher-safe. There's certainly novelty in the way the bottle works, and it appears to be well-made. The steel bottle I bought is sturdy, looks good, and kept my water cool for a long time. Craig, from Greater Manchester, said he and his partner could not work out why their seven-year-old daughter had been poorly - suffering an “upset stomach and occasional runs” for about four weeks. To me, Air Up is really an alternative to flavouring your water with bits of fruit. I don't know how disposable plastic pods, which can be recycled a maximum of two or three times (as with all recyclable plastics), can possibly be better than using fruit, which you can eat or put in your compost bin once you've used it to flavour your water. Recently a number of our customers have advised us that they are having difficulty cleaning our Twist ‘n’ Sip drink bottle caps. One angry father issued a warning to other parents after he claimed his daughter’s dirt-laden Twist ‘N’ Sip bottle cap was making her ill. The complaint: My favourites were the Orange-Vanilla and the Raspberry-Lemon. In both cases, one of the flavours was more dominant than the other (orange and lemon, respectively), but they gave my water a pleasant citrusy zing, and I enjoyed sipping away at those. Strawberry-Balsamic, Wild Berry, Raspberry-Lemon, Orange-Passionfruit, Iced Coffee, Orange-Vanilla, Basil-Lemon, Sweet Coconut, Guava, Watermelon, Mango Passion Fruit, Elderflower The bottle also makes quite a noisy slurping sound when you drink from it with the Air Pod engaged. According to Air Up this is intentional, but I can't imagine how infuriating it must be for a teacher to have 30 of these things being slurped in their classroom. It's probably a good thing I'm not a teacher.
