About this deal

A fast-paced, high-intensity story that’ll carry you along on an amazing journey.”— New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster

His son Gabe cannot accept the official verdict of suicide and enlists the help of the Burke Broussard Private Investigation Agency to discover the real cause of death. Molly Sutton completed her time with the Marines, went to college and turned to law enforcement in her home state. When she ended up taking a very unpopular course of action, she quit and joined her former CO in his private investigation firm in New Orleans. As in previous books, the reader is privy to the villain’s and cronies thoughts and some actions. One would think this would ruin the tension of the suspense element, but in reality it adds to it. The person is right in the middle of it all and seemed to be getting their way. I hated the gruesome body count and wanted justice to catch up with all who were involved. Karen Rose’s special seasoning is corruption and murder. Her first New Orleans novel is a winner and readers will want more.”— Criminal ElementKaren Rose has written another top-notch thriller! Grab this book. You won’t be able to put it down.”— New York Times bestselling author, Brenda Novak The truth," Burke said simply. "Whatever it might be. Molly's my right hand. She will not let you down. Now, please, have a seat. If, after you've talked with her, you want someone else, we'll figure it out. Don't worry. You can depend on her discretion, no matter who you choose to work your case." Gabe’s dad was a cop for years, and the job was not easy. In fact, this made Gabe certain that this was not the career he wanted. So, he became a chef. Despite his primary talent taking place in the kitchen, he does an amazing job working with Molly while trying to pursue his father‘s killer. Her boss, Burke Broussard, liked nice things and he loved New Orleans. Their office space on the Quarter's edge was a lot more expensive than an equivalent space in the burbs, but Burke swore it was worth it for the foot traffic alone. Their full roster of well-to-do clients seeking "Highly Qualified & Discreet Private Investigators"-as their business cards said in a very dignified script-seemed to prove him right.

Takes off like a house afire. There’s action and chills galore in this non-stop thriller.”— New York Times bestselling authorTess Gerritsen Quarter to Midnight was no exception. I enjoyed the change in setting to New Orleans and the situation of the dirty members of the justice system from cops on up that shifted the investigation team to the private sector. Never fear, there are still good people working in the justice system and a larger team emerges, some from past books and other new quirky civilian characters particularly Brousseau’s capable investigation team and his network in the city, to go after the corruption even if it puts them on the hit list. I liked seeing how modern private investigators work their jobs and seeing tough, competent Molly in action. Gabe's shoulders slumped, his exhaustion clear to see. "I appreciate that." He swallowed hard. "I need to find out who killed my father." I really missed our cops. While we've had couple before outside the police stations they were more well known and I still had the same vibe I felt was missing in this. I really enjoyed this book. Well crafted story with a large cast of characters you get attached to and invested with.

I read and listened (Thanks to my local library!) to this one. Lee Osorio did a wonderful solo narration. Molly Sutton, former marine and now private investigator, lives in New Orleans working for her former CO, Burke Broussard. Corruption seems rampant in the NOPD so Molly’s friend and boss left to aid people who have been denied justice, or need a specialized kind of help. Molly came to the Big Easy after a family tragedy along with her sister and niece. Gabe tended to irritate me a little. He demands to help work he case but gets overly defensive when they find something that might not show his dad i a great light. Which is why he shouldn't be working the case. An older, retired New Orleans cop knows his days are numbered because the wrong people know he has been poking into what they need to keep hidden. His convictions are deep that they need to be stopped, but never gets the chance to finish what he started before his pursuers got to him.
