About this deal

One maybe “complaint” is that this book gets very political. I didn’t used to have an issue with politics in books, but after the past few years I am exhausted by it and want my books to be an escape. You are definitely not escaping modern political opinions in this one. I am not going to focus on which side of things the politics fall in this book (I am bet all of you probably can guess which way they fall) because all of it exhausts me!

I just fell in love with the story. I fell in love with Gwendy's character. And I hated one ole jerk in the book. I hated him really bad. Karma dude, karma. Three classes of 7 - 9year olds performed 'The Button Box'. We all thoroughly enjoyed teaching the songs, rehearsing the dances and learning the words. The beauty of the way it is written is that it is so adaptable. Every child (about 90 in all) had a part and we were able to share out scenes and songs between classes which made rehearsing easier. Many thanks. So Appealing. Like the good ones often do, Gwendy's Button Box succeeds by planting questions in your mind. First the little questions, which of course lead to those bigger, more important kind. The stuff of life – and the stuff of...hmm. Well, many came to my mind that were the same Gwendy asked along the way. Why was this given to me? Could a simple wood box have such power suggested? And what could it possibly do if I pushed this little button? What...would...it...do? The scary in this story is not in the tangible, the things we see. It's not up your face like that. The scary in this story is in the what ifs. The possibilities we think about, but don't quite know. If Gwendy looses that box. What could happen then?Ferrari, Damon (November 20, 2009). Such Variety Peaceful. Was exactly wot we were looking for. Owner introduced himself but wasn't pushy. Phone number available shud b required. Wud recommend and go again. Thank u

Then, in 2022, King returned with Chizmar to tell the ending and boy, let me tell you, this is a definitive ending, but also an emotional rollercoaster. and there isn’t power without responsibility (ask Peter Parker if you don’t believe me!) and consequences. He tells her that he has chosen her to become the next custodian of a very special “button box”-an important task as the box has a great capacity for evil.

Very easy to deliver - the children wanted to sing the songs - I incorporated the Infants and they loved it!The KING of the authors& brilliant Richard Chizmar saved the best for the last! And guess what they smartly weaved Roland Deschain’s universe into this story! Good news for Dark Tower fans! Both stories blended perfectly for us! I gave extra nerdy shrieks during my read each time I read those references! My geeky cells truly had a big celebration! There was this weird writing tic for a chunk of the book, where whichever author was responsible kept murdering the chapter endings with overexplanation. The first and worst followed Richard Farris's last visit to Gwendy's home. As he is wont to do, he vanished like a fart in the wind while Gwendy was momentarily distracted, with this final line: This is great King storytelling. No doubt there was help from Richard Chizmar, but a lot of the writing is just too “King” to be from anyone else. I would definitely be keen to use more of your plays - this show is light-hearted, warm and very enjoyable for teachers and children to work on. Every night the audience walked out humming the tunes, so that's always a good sign! Loved it!
