My world implodes. And then she tells me that she owns our home – and that she’s not going anywhere… What I Thought But Sara has an idea. A compromise, albeit somewhat unconventional. She wants her baby to have a family. To have siblings, something she never had. And so she proposes that she and baby Rory move in with Jennifer and her children, and share the house that Sara said Cole had promised was to be theirs. Is she out of her mind? Even moreso, is Jennifer? For even considering it? This novel consists of 65 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case! One day Jennifer have a happy life and marriage, the next thing it's all chaos. When her husband Cole suddenly died from a car accident, a woman suddenly appears from their doorstep, claiming to be Cole's girlfriend and holding their baby. Jennifer's life turned upside down when she learns the truth about her husband's betrayal. Not to mention their property and money. I would like to thank #KLSlater, #NetGalley and #Bookouture for an ARC of #TheGirlfriend in exchange for an honest review.

That was something different!! I loved it!! I didn’t even read the blurb, I just know I wanted this book and it was worth it! I loved most of her books, this is no exception. Thank you NetGalley,Bookouture and K.L. Slater for letting me read “The Girlfriend” in exchange for an honest review. The resolution and reveal was almost comedic and was a little silly with who all was in on it . It felt like the author was trying overly hard to make it less obvious for the reader but strayed into the laughable. The wrap up also felt abrupt despite there being 3 chapters of epilogue. I also was left with questions like what happened to the book Jasmine was writing?? Two police officers are there to share the horrible news. Cole died on t Bestselling author K.L. Slater has established herself as one of the top psychological thriller writers in the world. Over two million copies of her books have been sold worldwide.Fate steps in and ask her to narrate a new book by disappeared novelist Philippa Roberts. She is delighted, but at age 36, she must return to London, leaving her daughter with her mum, and come home on the weekends.

I have liked many of K L Slater’s books, as they are well-written and smooth reads. This one follows the pattern – has a decent story and keeps you guessing. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for sharing this exciting book with me! It was so much fun reading it! Reading is a personal and subjective experience, and what appeals to one may not please another. If you enjoyed the excerpt from Single by K.L. Slater, and the plot outline appeals, please do go ahead and read it. You may well love it, as many other people have.

It is a story of betrayal, infidelity, manipulation, drugs, madness, greed, revenge, denial, coercion and control, and possible murders. I also listened to the audio version and the actual narrators of this book - Clare Corbett and Kristin Atherton really do this book justice.
