About this deal

Three Good Things - D.J. Palmer and Lisa Unger - chatty, offers a feel for the author, but is not particularly informative THE PERFECT DAUGHTER is engrossing, addictive and incredibly frustrating at times but it has a somewhat surprising ending despite having already figured out the twist early on. The final twist was the surprise and the ending was sweet.

Grace and her husband were very content raising their two sons. Though Grace always longed for a daughter. When Grace and her son are out for a walk they come across a sad lost girl all alone in the park. No parents to claim her. Grace swoops in and suddenly has the daughter she always wanted. Renaming her Penny. Only Grace may have gotten more than she bargained for. OHH Kerry Wilkinson you never fail to disappoint me and one of the reasons you are one of my go to authors!! His latest The Perfect Daughter is another incredibly creative and twisted storyline that needs to be added to your tbr list! I have continued reading his work though, because I could see that glimmer of greatness just under the surface. I feel like, with The Perfect Daughter, he finally broke through that barricade (for me, at least). I see that many of my friends felt differently, but for me, this story worked on nearly every level.

Okay, I'm the first to admit I haven't loved anything I've read by Daniel Palmer, or his pen name, D.J. Palmer...that is, until now. Yes, you should call your parents. But in addition, just think about how pleased your mom sounds when she says, "Grandma told me you called –- that was nice of you." No, it’s against the rules,” Grace said again, thinking less is more. “She likes to take walks. I thought maybe she took the car to go to the beach or something and forgot to tell me.” THE PERFECT DAUGHTER is a fast paced addictive thriller that I read in a day as I pondered Jennifer's bad decisions and her predicament. The well-written plot is certainly compelling and tension-filled from start to finish though it does lag a little in the middle with Jennifer consumed with mainly thoughts about her and how her decisions affect her. She wasn't someone I was endeared to but I could understand her predicament should I ever find myself in the same situation...although I would like to think that I would do the right thing regardless of the outcome. Because it would be far worse in the long run if I didn't...as Jennifer is surely bound to find out.

Unfavorable: Grace's decisions. There is one particular decision that she makes that makes me want to shake her. Even her sister-in-law was telling her what she should do but she still decided not to do a single thing about it. I wish I had liked the main character. She bothered me from the beginning. I kept thinking that I should feel sorry for her, but I didn't. She was a selfish woman, always thinking of herself, and not as concerned about her daughter as she should have been. As well, her choices were just wrong. The Perfect Daughter by Alex Stone is a psychological thriller from a new author to me. This cover and synopsis both grabbed me immediately and I knew I needed to read it. I would like to thank #AlexStone, #Netgalley, #BoldwoodBooks and #RachelsRandomResources for an ARC of #ThePerfectDaughter in exchange for an honest review. For Jess, this behaviour is completely normal. Everyone is close to their mothers...aren't they? That may well be, but not everyone is beholden to their mother for ever hour of every day of their lives. If Jess isn't with her mother she is texting her mother or thinking about what her and what she might say in any given situation...even when she is on a date. Firstly....this book is not by this Alex Stone. It is by another author of the same name who is female from the West Midlands in England and this book is her debut. Someone has added this book to the wrong author. And to my delight there were power-tripping guards, a doctor battling his own personal demons, and murderous patients wreaking havoc. While THE PERFECT DAUGHTER isn't my favourite of Kerry's thrillers, it is still a tense read that is as enjoyable as it is disturbing. When it comes down to it, Jennifer's life hinges on two seconds. What can happen in two seconds and how much can change in two seconds. With all the red herrings peppered throughout when all is revealed, you don't see it coming.
