Everybody is still in a euphoric state of mind about this Atem Mini Pro. I must admit that it includes me. However I can think of a few minors. I bought the Atem to reduce my editing time by changing to more 'live editing' during the broadcast or recording and to be able to live switch camera's without problems. I mainly record or live-stream smaller (sports)events. With USB webcam output, audio mixer with EQ and dynamics, 2D DVE, transitions, green screen chromakeyer, capacity for 20 stills for titles and much more During the session, I used the physical buttons on the ATEM to switch between each source and used the software to add the overlays to the feed as required using the simple macros. The main feature of all the ATEM Mini Switchers is the ability to live stream, and here with the Mini Pro ISO, you can live stream through a robust Ethernet connection. The ATEM Mini switcher takes things a step further by enabling you to switch from one camera to another easily. This means that rather than you live streaming a gig from a solo camera, you can now mimic that multi-camera look and style of a professional live broadcast.

The two 3.5mm audio inputs can also be switched between each other using two smaller audio buttons. The cut button ensures an instant cut when switching between sources. The auto button is a professional term that's used on large broadcast switchers to enable video effects transitions. There are duration buttons for video effects allowing 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 second settings. You can also select the type of effect you want including mix, which does a smooth transition between sources, and dip which fades via a colour during the transition. Or use fun DVE effects that move the image off screen when transitioning between sources. I found that one could be used for a RODE NTG4 Plus, with 3.5mm adapter, and the other I looped into the media player. With two independent 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, you can connect desktop and lapel microphones. You can even connect a music player to generate introduction music after the live stream commences but before the program starts. With 2 extra stereo audio inputs, you can ensure a host and guest both have lapel microphones when doing interviews. All audio inputs to ATEM Mini include buttons on the panel for adjusting audio level and enabling inputs into the audio mixer. ATEM Mini features a full Fairlight audio mixer and all HDMI audio inputs and both microphone inputs are all connected separately to the audio mixer so you can live mix from all audio sources. This software update adds support for Apple Mac M1 models when used with ATEM switchers and panels. That means ATEM Mini will automatically convert 1080p, 1080i and 720p sources to the video standard of the switcher. By default the switcher will set its video format automatically, however you can also set the switcher to a specific video standard you need. The HDMI output is a true "aux" output so you can clean switch each HDMI input or program to this output. You can even "direct" switch input 1 to the HDMI output for low latency eSport productions. You also need the software to access some of the more advanced features such as creating Macros for graphic overlays. The workflow for each online streaming service; FaceBook, Skype etc is along the same line as each other. Still, each has its quirks with FaceBook seeming to be the most temperamental but usually resolves itself after a couple of attempts. The most advanced part of the ATEM Mini ISO is the ability to record a live stream from each video and audio source. As standard, I had two cameras connected with a third and fourth HDMI source going into a couple of 4k media players. It’s worth noting that a bit of practice is needed if you’re doing a live stream. The first time I used the ATEM I forgot about the audio, a mistake you only make once, maybe twice. This is where the ISO is leaps and bounds beyond any other switcher. Plugged into the computer and with DaVinci Resolve open I could open the project file, and everything was already laid out in the timeline ready to be tweaked and adjusted. It’s incredibly easy to use and understand, with picture in picture and the ability to drop in graphics if and when you want.
