Jane Fallon has always been on my reading radar and as always, given fans a fabulous engaging and totally hooking read. Jealously, betrayal, envy and revenge are the ideal elements to escalate this funny, clever and thoroughly addictive tale. What I did like about this book was the focus on friendship. I loved the bond that Joni, Saffy and Mary made. A real mismatch of women and personalities, but the perfect blend for a fantastic friendship. The author portrayed loneliness well and explored the feelings that come with being lonely. I’m glad that the three women found each other, despite it being for such rubbish reasons!! Whilst I did love their friendship, I found the last 10-15% of the book unnecessary and dragged out. I think it could have ended a lot sooner than it did. I loved Lucas and I liked the development of his friendship with Joni. He was really funny! Jane Fallon's razor-sharp wit runs through this novel. With sparky lead characters and sharp insights into the world of influencers, Fallon has delivered another laugh-out-loud funny read Charlotte Heathcote, SUNDAY EXPRESS

Als Joni ontdekt dat Ant tijdens hun relatie nog steeds zeer actief op de app is, begint het spel... Vanaf dan probeert ze, samen met twee andere vrouwen, wraak op hem te nemen. I absolutely loved Just Got Real. It's modern, it's relevant, it's funny, and I was completely hooked from start to finish. Whilst the dating story is the primary storyline, it's very much Joni who is the main focus of the story, as she moves on with her life after a divorce, the loss of a friend and her daughter leaving home. She takes comfort in her routine but there's no real joy there. I won't go into what happens along the way but by the end I was full of hope for her in the future. Jane Fallon is a brilliant observer and writes in a sharp and sarcastic way – my favourite kind! The writing flies smoothly and is filled with funny and more serious moments. It was thought out well and it took us on a roller – coaster journey full of mixed feelings and emotions. I really, really enjoyed this novel. Jane Fallon pretty much specialises in fiction about toxic friendships and, I'll be honest, no author does it better than she does. I've read close to all of her books (bar the odd one or two that I still have on my shelf to read) although it has been a while since I've read one of her novels. I felt that the author didn't know where to go with the story at the end. I was expecting some bombshell.... some fabulous ending that made me go WOW, I didn't see that coming, I'm so glad I finished it... but it fizzled out like a damp firework.

Refreshing, authentic and viciously fun, it’s a hooking narrative as you watch the story and cast evolve over time while laughing along the way.

I’ve read all of the British author’s novels and love her or hate her she certainly makes an impact in the book world with her clever, contemporary, disloyalty fiction and I simply love them. The husband left her, she is bored at work and is now renting out her spare room because she’s broke.I had to keep reminding myself that Georgia and Lydia were grown women in their mid 40's, not teenagers. Georgia's grown up twins were more mature!
