About this deal

The David Raker series is highly addictive and if the truth is to be known Vanished is my favourite of the books (to date, as more are to come at the time of writing this).

Bek travels to Crow Island with her brother Johnny who is heading there to learn more about the islands history for a book he wants to write.

Publication Order of Standalone Novels

Weaver attended Norton Hill School [16] in Midsomer Norton, Somerset. He also describes himself as a "massive, massive football fan", [17] and supports Arsenal and Bath City F.C. Bibliography [ edit ] David Raker novels [ edit ] Meanwhile, the killer watches, waits, and prepares to bury the truth forever. Because this was never just a murder. It was something far worse . . .

Missing persons investigator David Raker has solved too many impossible cases. He knows that behind every disappearance lies a dark tale waiting to be uncovered. However, what should have been a simple task turned into a nightmare, as it became obvious that they had stumbled upon a murder – and the murderers! Without giving away any more of the plot, I can say that Rebekah was abandoned on the island, with little chance of escape, and with the threat of being hunted by the killers. Brilliant, as ever. Tim Weaver has, once again, demonstrated why he is one of my favourite authors. We flit between present day Rebekah and her struggles, to past happenings in her life that gives us context to her current circumstances. We also see chapters from the perspective of Detective Travis searching for a missing artist. With two seemingly disparate protagonists, Missing Pieces had me intrigued from the offset, and I wanted to read on to find out how the pairs lives would converge and why. Weaver's books get better each time - tense, complex, written with flair as well as care * Guardian *A fluent and assured piece of crime fiction . . . Tim Weaver ties in the apparently divergent events with convincing ease' Crime Fiction Lover

Tim Weaver is a new author to me however when this latest book (no. 4) in the David Raker series came through the door, I was intrigued. The storyline is one that immediately grabs your attention – a whole family suddenly disappears from their home and apparently no-one knows where they are – the dinner is left cooking on the stove, wallets and phones are left behind and the dog is left wandering around the house.Weaver's tenth book, No One Home, was again selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club on 20 February 2020 [12] and on 15 April 2021, Weaver released his first standalone novel, Missing Pieces. [13] Podcast [ edit ] I was pleased to see that this book has been chosen as one of the Richard & Judy Autumn 2013 Bookclub reads. Tim Weaver is the rising star of British crime and I Am Missing will haunt your dreams' Tony Parsons, bestselling author of the DC Max Wolfe series Finally, through more plot twists, we find out the drama isn't over, and the villain is still on the loose, with the author leading the reader to believe our protagonist is dead at the end. Now since this was written in 2012 and I know there are subsequent novels in this series, I know that not to be true. Was Weaver at the end of his book deal at the time of sending this to the publishers? It just felt like a bad cliffhanger and weak ending to the story.

Surprisingly the book focuses heavily on the case. I say this because there's usually a lot of time dedicated to The complex character throughout the series, David Raker, is charged with the responsibility of investigating the case. Just like Tim, David Raker is a former journalist. We learn that he left his job to nurse his ailing wife, who finally dies. David is reluctant to take the task of investigating Alex Towne’s disappearance, but remembering the loss of his own, he finally agrees, and this signifies the beginning of trouble for him.

Love David Raker? You’ll love these…

I really enjoyed this book and finished it in a couple of days, reading way too late into the evening, but I had to know what was going to happen next. Tim Weaver is a master of the crime genre. You'll be gripped by the intricate plotting and whiplash- inducing twists. I couldn't look away' GILLY MACMILLAN Despite the above wonderful writing, too much passive writing, switching between characters and scenes with no section breaks to help the reader orient themselves, and constant telling what has been shown in dialogue (eg: 'If you ever got caught with me ...' He faded out-time and again, the writer acts as though the elipses don't get the message across and tells us, unnecessarily, that the speaker 'faded out'. A small enough thing done once or twice, but the whole way through the book gets a bit much. Also, some actions I just couldn't understand, and taken together, all of this put me off the read somewhat. They soon find that they are in an extremely dire predicament and are split up when a gunman comes after them. Richard's last hope may be private investigator David Raker - a seasoned locator of missing people. But Raker has more questions than answers.
