The Equinox 900 uses the same Multi-IQ technology as the 800, but it has been tuned slightly differently.The 900 is built and designed, both physically and digitally similar to the 800. The menus and buttons are all familiar and there is no new detecting jargon to try to digest and understand. Of course, it is, but not by a huge amount! As I mentioned earlier the announcement by Minelab that they were coming out with the Equinox 700 and 900 took a lot of people by surprise. Many feel as though this announcement was too soon due to the fact the Manticore isn’t widely distributed yet.

Each of these modes are designed to help you use the detector in a variety of different environments. As far as recommending one over the other - The 900 does perform better than the 800, but the of course reflects this within its price. If you’re serious about metal detecting and can afford the Equinox 900 then I would go for that. There’s, ‘more inside the box’ as they say, and in terms of useability, it’s just as intuitive as the 800 anyway. But, the Nox 800 is a powerhouse and I don’t hear complaints about that detector, so you can’t lose. The new arm rest is more comfortable, durable and is simple to adjust, improving the detectorists experience. The two machines are pretty similar. With its huge popularity, there is a wealth of information and guides available online. Should you upgrade from the Equinox 800 to the 900? We can’t say! It is definitely better than the 800, but, unless you have the disposable income, we’d advise purchasing the Manticore. And if you’re upgrading from the Vanquish series or from any other good detector, which should you buy? It depends on your budget.

Minelab Equinox 900 is a multipurpose and multifrequency ground and underwater metal detector. Due to a special mode and two high operation frequencies, it also perfectly works for gold nuggets metal detecting. It offers not only simultaneous usage of operation frequencies but also selecting one frequency (Multi – IQ). Review As ever, as detectorists we not only want a detector that performs technically, but one that is easy to use, and weight is a massive factor in this. The 800 was no elephant weighing in at a modest 1.3kg but is the 900 any lighter? The Equinox 900 has a range of 28 sensitivity levels, which is 3 increments more than the 800. The increase in sensitivity is not a case of adding additional segments within the same range as the 800, the 900 is a more sensitive metal detector than any other Equinox machine. Updated TonesMinelab has done its best and even more to get higher sales than Nokta Makro Legend. But just because Nokta Makro Legend offers the same, but for a lower price, the sales drop. Minelab should renew the product line, get their customers interested, and, this way, make them share their money.
