About this deal

This mold also served as the model for the non-toy Beast Wars: Uprising incarnation of Megatron and was retooled into Generations Combiner Wars Legends Class Warpath. The toy suffers from a number of unusual shortcomings, and proved a rather hefty shelfwarmer. Notably, due to a large number of design flaws, it is known to fall apart very easily, with the crotch coming undone with minimal force and the arms and legs often popping off over the course of basic transformation or even movement. In particular, the lower body is attached to the torso by very thin open clips, unsuited for holding up the weight of entirely die-cast legs, and the lower arms, which need to be pulled out, are extremely liable to disconnect from their balljoints rather than extending properly. Many of the joints are also extremely loose, owing to both poor construction and the excessive weight of the limbs. Accessories: Left and right fists, translucent right fist, gun barrel (opaque and translucent), saluting right hand (opaque and translucent), "Laser Vulcan", stand, die-cast Megatron Gun accessory (Asia reissue)

TRANSFORMERS G2-INSPIRED DESIGN: This Transformers: Legacy 3.5-inch G2 Universe Megatron robot toy is inspired by the animated series, Transformers: Generation 2, updated with a Generations-style design Blitzwing who? I'm just a Megatron who happens to turn into a tank and a jet. All the cool Megatrons are doing it! This weapon is made up of the same bright green plastic as Megatron himself with no paint applications. A diminutive version of Megatron in his Walther P-38 mode was included as a new accessory with the Transformers Collection release of Starscream. Needless to say, he doesn't transform, but can be held by Starscream in both modes. Megatron's handle disconnects to reveal a peg, which can then be inserted into either of Starscream's fists, which were specifically resculpted for this purpose. Each fist also features a tab on its underside, into which Megatron's handle can be inserted, completing the effect. Megatron can also attach to Starscream's jet mode; the right-hand side of Megatron's handle features a square peg which is designed to fit snugly in gaps in Starscream's pectorals, as in the Generation 1 episode, " S.O.S. Dinobots". Unfortunately, this peg has, for no fathomable reason, been cast in the same sky blue color as Starscream's hands, unnecessarily making it as obtrusive as humanly possible. An additional tabbed right fist for Optimus Prime (complementing his then-upcoming Transformers Collection Convoy release) was included as well.A small, non-transforming micro-figure of Megatron in his crocodile body came with the MicroVerse Arachnid playset. Accessories: "D50-R35 Fusion Cannon," "HPR Telescopic Laserstrike Launcher" (combines to form "NFM Particle Beam Megalauncher"), Pinpointer Battle Master, Lionizer Battle Master, 3 Fire Blast effects

So, his accessories are another weird point on this guy. On the normal side, he has his trademark fusion cannon, which is another almost-identical-but-actually-new sculpt that’s marginally less covered in tech detail, but more importantly, is now solid purple. He can arm-mount it as usual. Accessories: Sword, "high-density infrared laser cannon", 20 bullets, targeting sight/fusion cannon

As a direct result of this, Hasbro later re-adopted the "Combat" prefix for redecos of newer Optimus Prime and Megatron toys that homage the intended decos for these unreleased figures, first for " Combat Hero Optimus Prime" from the 2012 Generations "Ultimate Gift Set", then later for Generations Selects War for Cybertron Trilogy " Combat Megatron". Elsewhere, an entirely separate race of Transformers, descended from the Decepticons, who prefer to think of themselves as Cybertronians, are discovered in the far reaches of known space. The Autobots find themselves attempting to deal with this new threat, while also struggling to protect the Earth from the danger posed by the "original" Decepticons. A gold redeco of the original MP-5 mold, Megatron Gold Version is a Hasbro Asia release under the TakaraTomy label (making it the first TakaraTomy Masterpiece to not be released, thus far, in Japan). It comes with all the same accessories as the original release as well as a new, non-transforming Reflector in camera mode.

Fiddle the Megatron figure into a different position, and insert the joint piece on his chest to allow Spacewarp to attach on it. [2] 2. If the joint piece doesn't work due to its tolerance, rearrange Megatron in a slightly different position, and peg Spacewarp into Megatron's arm. [3] Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro), Takashi Kunihiro (TakaraTomy), Ken Christiansen (concept artist) [7] This mold was also used, with different heads and accessories, to make the other Transformers GT toys: GT-R Prime, GT-R Saber, and GT-R Maximus. The Alternity Megatron toy transforms into a 1:32 scale model of a Nissan 370Z and features die-cast metal parts and rubber tires. The figure wields two "tesseractal swords" which can be pegged at its hips, or stored under the car in vehicle mode. Each forearm features a flip-out "gravital blade."

In 1992 Hasbro made an attempt to revive the then floundering Transformers toy line in the United States with a new line called Generation 2. While Transformers ruled toy store shelves in the 80s, by this time they had largely faded away (though they still sold rather well internationally). As part of this effort, a new Megatron was released. Instead of transforming into a gun, he now transformed into a tank. This helped start the long trend of Megatron transforming into a tank, something that continues to this day. There is a message written in Cybertronian letters on Megatron's box art, which reads "RISE FROM THE SHADOWS". Megatron's pose in the instruction manual's front cover is based on the promotional artwork by Guido Guidi. As the Masterpiece Optimus Prime mold has been has re-released multiple times, so too has Megatron. He was made available again without changes as an accessory for Takara's MP-4, " Convoy Perfect Edition" and MP-1L, " Convoy Last Production", and Hasbro's " DVD Edition", but has also been redecoed several times: these distinct new versions of Megatron are listed below. Part of the Japan-exclusive Street Fighter II × Transformers toyline, Megatron is a redeco of Titans Return Voyager Class Megatron in M. Bison's traditional colors, fleshy bits and all. He transforms from robot to tank to fighter jet (both of made-up model), complete with Shadaloo insignia. The smaller Headmaster unit's robot mode is also painted to resemble Bison. Being faithful to the illustrations it is based upon, the figure has both a "Super Jet Mode" and a triple-barreled "Ultra Tank Mode". The figure comes with his signature fusion cannon, which forms the nose of his gunship mode and the turret of his tank mode. He also has a triple-barreled cannon, which is stored inside the fusion cannon, and can be accessed by unfolding the front of the cannon and opening it up from the bottom. The triple-barreled cannon is detachable from the fusion cannon, and can be wielded by Super Megatron as a handheld weapon if you so choose.Which is fair enough, but this list will only contain the product released under the actual Generation 2 banner.
