There are some very important things to consider however, so please take the following as some caveats: Dimensions, weight and color Information about the dimensions and the weight of the specific model with and without stand as well as the colors, in which it is offered to the market. Width The most widely used panels are those with 6, 8, and 10 bits for each of the RGB components of the pixel. They provide 18-, 24-, and 30-bit color, respectively.

Just as the steps above, prepare your display for calibration by selecting the default mode, letting it warm up first and making sure the panel is free of smudges so the sensors can work accurately. Install and open the calibration software and follow on-screen instructions. The ratio between the horizontal and the vertical side of the display. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10. Colour accuracy, gamma, luminance and colour temperaturemay be improved when using these settings and/or ICC profiles. Do not be alarmed if they do not work on your screen and system. If they do not work, just remove the ICC profile and restore your settings. It is totally reversible! Some ghosting will be noticeable on the C24G1A, too, but mostly in dark scenes only and to a much lesser degree. While colorimeters are good for transmissive media – emitted light (such as displays), spectrophotometers are also good for reflective media (such as paper). So if you want to make sure that what you see on the display is also what you will see when it’s printed out, than opting for a spectrophotometer might be a better idea. However, these come at a considerably higher price point than monitor-only colorimeters. In fact, this is a common issue for most VA panel monitors, but it’s even worse on this 23.8″ flat-screen model. The maximum number of colors, which the display is able to reproduce, depends on the type of the panel in use and color enhancing technologies like FRC. While the AOC G2490VX offers an excellent image quality and plenty of useful features, its pixel response time speed is simply too slow for an enjoyable gaming experience. Specifications Screen Size If you don’t want any prominent smearing in fast-paced games, you should get a 144Hz gaming monitor with an IPS panel, such as the AOC 24G2 or the BenQ EX2510.

You need to have the same version screen as the one which generated the profile. Manufacturers sometimes switch the panels in their screens, so bear this in mind. Revisions of the screen may also cause differences

Obtaining the optimum starting point at a monitor hardware level– this involves setting the OSD settings to the recommended levels for brightness, contrast, RGB, gamma, colour temperature etc. If you have a calibration tool, during a calibration process the device and software will often guide you to reaching this optimum starting point before more finite corrections are made through the creation of the profile and activation at the graphics card level. Getting to the best hardware setting first can help ensure the profiling needs to do “less work” to correct your settings, and ensure tonal values are preserved. Use the recommended OSD settings as a starting point which will be a good start. The stand included with the AOC G2790VX only offers tilt which severely limits your setup options. The simpler mechanism reduced its dimensions, but that’s not a worthy sacrifice in our opinion. Thankfully, it’s removable so you can use a VESA mount, but that will add cost to your upgrade if you don’t already have one lying around. OSD settings are recommended and related to the calibration process which produces the ICC profile. You may or may not find them useful on their own. Combining them with the attached ICC profile is recommended However, if you need to execute colour-critical tasks, such as colour grading videos or editing images, you need to make sure that the monitor displays the colours correctly. Without a proper calibration, colours might be displayed in different hues on other displays. For instance, what you see as a true red in your digital creation might be displayed as more of a pink or orange on another person’s display – assuming their monitor shows accurate colours. In short, without calibrating, the colours displayed might not be true and therefore make colour-sensitive jobs unnecessarily complicated.

Approximate diagonal size of the display. If the manufacturer does not provide such information, the diagonal is calculated from the width and height of the screen. The ‘Medium’ mode is your best choice as there’s no overshoot, however, there’s still going to be a lot of ghosting and motion blur visible. First of all, you'll need to make sure FreeSync is enabled on your monitor. Not all FreeSync monitors have FreeSync enabled by default, so you'll probably have to root around in your monitor's menu settings a bit (the location will vary by monitor manufacturer) to make sure it's switched on. After calibration, you’ll be surprised about how AOC’s display expertise and high-quality panels ensure that most AOC monitors require only small amounts of calibration or no significant changes at all.Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. The ‘Off’ and ‘Weak’ options barely increase the response time speed resulting in noticeable trailing behind fast-moving objects, whereas the ‘Strong’ mode is too aggressive and introduces prominent pixel overshoot. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. The AOC G2490VX monitor also supports HDR (High Dynamic Range). Thanks to its high contrast ratio, decent peak brightness (considering the price) and wide color gamut support, some HDR content will look a bit better. The AOC G2790VX is mostly built out of plastic, so it doesn’t feel as durable as other options in its category. It can feel cheap and fragile for some, but it is actually quite durable for a budget monitor. The stand has a slight wobble but it won’t be an issue if your desk is stable and you don’t pound on your keyboard while gaming.
