About this deal

All finance and hiring facilities are subject to status and available to over 18s in the UK only (excluding the Channel Islands). Guarantees and indemnities may be required. Finance provided by MINI Financial Services, Summit ONE, Summit Avenue, Farnborough, Hampshire GU14 0FB. Registered Company Number 01288537. Photo settings can be changed in flight. Live video preview is 720p and easy to fly with. (Image credit: Adam Juniper/Digital Camera World) That said, we think the Mini SE is the most fun-to-drive EV in its price range, and its zippy performance makes it stand out—although not always in the best way. While the car is great for carving canyons and country roads, its tight suspension can feel jarring, and eventually fatiguing, on long highways. Whether you're threading through city traffic, pulling a sharp U-turn, or fitting into a tight parking space, its small size and short wheelbase make the Mini SE ideal for urban settings. We also found that performance driving, while pleasurable, severely drained the battery and made us feel like we constantly had to plug the car in for an electric top-up.

Lastly, with a drone like the DJI MIni SE you are getting a premium product, and you can feel that. The app is amazing. The controls are well thought out. It's just fantastic. The built in GPS and downward-facing optical sensor also mean the drone is good at maintaining its position or heading with minimal effort on the pilot’s part. For users focused on the quality of video or image they’re capturing that is significant. Obstruction Sensitivity: Due to its reliance on WiFi connectivity, the Mini SE can be obstructed by large objects like trees, buildings, or houses. This obstruction sensitivity may limit its usability in certain environments, particularly when flying in areas with significant obstacles or structures that could disrupt the WiFi signal. Pilots need to exercise extra caution and maintain a clear flight path to ensure a stable connection and avoid potential signal disruptions during flights. Simply put, we’re not going to need to spend a lot of time on this heading. The most obvious difference between the two drones themselves is the model name on the arm. That’s because the airframe remains the same between the two drones, and, indeed, it was inherited from the Mavic Mini before that. Portability and Design: The DJI Mini SE lives up to its "Mini" moniker with its compact and lightweight design. It is incredibly portable, making it easy to carry along on adventures without adding significant weight to your gear. The drone's sleek and streamlined appearance further adds to its appeal.Vision positioning requires non-reflective, discernible surfaces and adequate lighting. Available at altitudes from 0.5-30 m. The vertical and horizontal positioning accuracy is within ±0.1 m. So there is no question that the DJI Mini 2 SE is the better machine because, well, it’s broadly the same but with an unarguably newer, better controller. That said, while both linger in the supply chain, is it actually worth the bigger spend? We’re not completely sure.

CE: UK, Russia, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Macau, New Zealand, UAE, and other regions; Overall, driving was an enjoyable experience, although the driver assistance tech is essentially just adaptive cruise control. The front seats are comfortable and even those six-foot and taller will find no issue with head or leg room while driving or in the passenger seat. The rear seats though are a tough sell to passengers unless they are yoga practitioners. Video is captured at either 2.7K 30fps (that’s 2720 x 1530 pixels) or 1080p at up to 60fps. As a low-resolution ‘economy’ option, this is better than you might expect. The bitrate is 40Mbps, which is also a bit lower than some, especially since the only compression algorithm option is H.264, not H.265. The punchier i3 S donates its power electronics and 135kW/181bhp electric motor, produced by BMW at its Landshut plant. These components are normally located at the rear of the i3 S, but they’re slotted under the Mini’s bonnet, cradled in a frame that even uses the existing three engine-mounting points. Minimal improvements like this come with improvements to motors or just the software driving them (both drones use identical propellors, too). It is worth noting, though, that in both cases the maximum flight time is measured at constant forward travel; hovering actually uses more power so drains the battery a little faster.

GET READY TO START EXPLORING.

There are three flying modes: Normal, Sport and Cine. You'll need to set the drone in Sport mode to reach maximum ascend, descend and flight speeds, whereas, in Cine mode, flight speed is limited for more stable video capturing. I'd recommend using Cine mode for absolute beginners, at least until you get used to controlling the DJI Mini 2 SE. Secondly, these DJI drones are known for their very excellent cameras. With this drone, you are not just getting a camera for which you can see what the drone sees (a necessity for flying) but rather an aerial photography device. The camera is so good you could absolutely think of this drone as a flying camera. Really, I would rate it about as good as a point-and-shoot or an iPhone 12. Another thing to note about the camera is that it is on a gimble, so your photos and videos will be crystal clear and right on point. The colour accuracy from the drone's camera is phenomenal. The bottom line, it is a great starter drone with GPS. It is Stable, Goes where you want it, and is a great resource for photographers and videographers. Could probably do more but I don't want to test the distance and height limits. I had it up about 35 to 40 meters and it got these great sunset shots. BUY IT!

What I discovered is that, if you are to buy a drone and are on a tight budget, either don't buy one or buy this one. After using it a few times I can completely recommend this drone from a skeptical point of view.

How fast is it with electrons for fuel?

km for the FCC-compliant model (MT2SS5) and 2 km for the CE-compliant model (MT2SD25). Measurements were taken in unobstructed environments free of interference. Always fly your drone within visual line of sight unless otherwise permitted.

It's also refined and comfortable enough no matter where you're going and who's riding along. We mostly drove in Sport mode, switching to Green mode to conserve energy. While we don't mind taking breaks, this trip doesn't require any charging stops in a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. On the plus side, the Mini Cooper SE is rather conservative with its indicated range, which is a big plus. With 181hp / 199lb-ft (135kW / 270Nm) on tap, the front-wheel drive Mini Cooper SE does the 0-60mph sprint in about 6.5 seconds (0-100km/h in about 7s). That actually makes it one of the fastest Minis currently on the market.Panorama is an automated option, in which you can simply hover the drone looking in the right direction and let it take a series of images in sequence, which it will also automatically stitch for you into a panorama. This feature – available on most DJI drones – was left off the Mini SE but it seems the Mini 2 SE can handle it.
