About this deal

In my video loop test, the Moto G42 recorded a roughly 25-minute long time-lapse clip (with 12X speed), which took over seven hours to record. Despite constant pressure on the battery, display, and processor (4G enabled as well), the battery level dropped only to 55 per cent. This is a very good result when we compare it to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Xiaomi 12 Pro, which only lasted for an hour and offered roughly 25 minutes-long time-lapse video. The Poco F4 5G survived a little over two hours as the phone stopped recording the time-lapse video in-between to prevent overheating. RAM (Random-Access Memory) is used by the operating system and all installed applications. Data in the RAM is lost after the device is turned off or restarted. The rear cameras of mobile devices use mainly a LED flash. It may arrive in a single, dual- or multi-light setup and in different arrangements. The aperture (f-stop number) indicates the size of the lens diaphragm opening, which controls the amount of light reaching the image sensor. The lower the f-stop number, the larger the diaphragm opening is, hence, the more light reaches the sensor. Usually, the f-stop number specified is the one that corresponds to the maximum possible diaphragm opening.

The Motorola Moto G42 is the latest mid-range smartphone from Motorola - and it's a real gem. Released in June 2022, the Moto G42 promises to deliver exceptional performance at an affordable price. Moreover, the phone comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage so that you can store all your songs, videos, games, pictures and other stuff without worrying about space constraints.Enjoy sound as it is meant to be heard. Rear Camera: Main Camera: 1080p (at 60 fps/30 fps), Ultra Wide Angle Camera: 1080p (at 30 fps), Macro Camera: 1080p (at 30 fps) | Front Camera: 1080p (at 30 fps) Information about the process technology used in manufacturing the chip. The value in nanometers represents half the distance between elements that make up the CPU. Battery life is another crucial factor in most users’ purchasing decisions and the Moto G42 has you covered on this front. The phone is equipped with a sizable 5,000 mAh cell with a 20 W TurboPower charger provided in the box. Do note that the phone only supports 18 W charging though.

Pixels are usually measured in microns (μm). Larger ones are capable of recording more light, hence, will offer better low light shooting and wider dynamic range compared to the smaller pixels. On the other hand, smaller pixels allow for increasing the resolution while preserving the same sensor size. Moving on to GPU benchmarks, the Moto G42 did well in both 3D Mark Wild Life and GFX Bench, but the Redmi 10 Prime consistently got a better score – meaning that it is better equipped to deal with graphic-intensive tasks such as gaming. Speaking of gaming, we ran Call of Duty: Mobile through Gamebench Pro and the phone is capable of 58 fps at 90 per cent stability on Medium graphics, which is pretty great for its price point.

For video, you can shoot at 1080p at 30 fps only on both rear and selfie lenses but the footage is not the best, once again, when it comes to dynamic range and sharpness. Overall, the camera experience is mediocre and it doesn’t match up to some competitors such as the Nokia G21 and Redmi Note 10s. Motorola Moto G42:Battery life Motorola is again boasting a clean Android experience with the Moto G42. It is true to its words, the phone gets no bloatware, and I did not see any spammy notifications in my testing. Moto G42 camera performance The Motorola Moto G42 is a good mid-range smartphone that offers a lot of value for money. There are two features in particular that make it stand out: The long battery life, and the bright AMOLED display. Not only is the latter's brightness of around 700 cd/m² above average by mid-range standards, but it also impresses with good image quality and uniform illumination. However, there's no more than a 60 Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the aspect ratio of the Motorola Moto G42 is 20:9 so that you can enjoy vivid and crystal clear visuals while watching videos, playing games, or streaming movies online..

It comes with either 4GB or 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a whopping 128GB of internal storage (or 64GB if you prefer). An external microSD card slot allows you to expand the storage even further. One of the main characteristics of the display is its type/technology, on which depends its performance.

Indoor images look decent, but if you pixel peep, you will notice some softness. Portrait images come out looking nice with decent edge detection and good colour. In low light, the Moto G42’s images are extremely noisy and soft, even with Night Mode active, which is disappointing.Coming to indoor settings, the images in artificial lights are also decent. The colours look bright, the brightness looks sharp and the detailing is not lost. Even if the lighting is a little poor, the images are clear and never look faded or distorted. Typically, smartphones with poor thermals and low battery capacity would give up within an hour or two.
