About this deal

Today’s consumption of music “on the go” has changed a great deal since the heyday of those classic portable radio sets. Today’s users demand access to digital music sources, DAB radio and the ability to stream afrom form portable devices.

Continued listening showed the above to remain true across the board, with the SuperSignal impressing everyone who listened. Of course, we aren’t saying to box up and sell the living room hi-fi – far from it. But in a category often known for placing an emphasis on keeping things simple and (reasonably) cheap, the Revo gave a much-welcomed display of what can be achieved when manufacturers go that little bit further in the pursuit of great sound. It’d probably even make getting up in the morning a delight. Well, maybe that’s pushing it…The Revo SuperSignal is the perfect entry point for anyone interested in a new DAB radio. Not only does it provide stunning sound quality, but it also boasts a seriously sophisticated design. In this review, we’ll be exploring the SuperSignal in more detail. Read on, and discover how we got on with it in practise, as well as the key features of this model. The touch-snooze feature, the volume dial and Bluetooth are all brilliantly convenient, though I reserve most praise for the use of an OLED screen that keeps the bedroom dark. The OLED screen uses some great-looking typography, too. Sound is the most important feature and the quality here is precise, warm and powerful. That said, a mono rather than stereo speaker is always a shame, though it does make sense on a bedside table. However, we're not convinced that Bluetooth – and aptX-compatible Bluetooth, at that – is wholly necessary in the bedroom, and the same goes for the giant-sized remote. The jury is out on that, but it certainly adds to the price.

Powering up the REVO SuperSignal hints at the 21st-century tech hiding within; a bright, clear, OLED display is suddenly visible through the smoked perspex front panel, and with it, access to the Revo SuperSignal’s modern connectivity. Both FM and DAB radio broadcast information is viewable, making tuning and radio listening easy. Sound quality is one of the most important factors when it comes to choosing a radio. While there are lots of good budget radios on the market, their sound quality can be disappointing. The SuperSignal’s design blends classic 1960s elements with a minimalistic modern finish giving it a timeless look. One thing to watch out for is the delicate plastic screen cover which can be scratched easily. The Revival iStream 3 is a compact radio (11 x 16 x 25.5 cm) with a beautiful retro design and great sound quality. This radio has a lot of features. It offers FM/DAB/DAB+ radio as well as an internet tuner for listening to radio stations via WiFi.
