Default is "Wolf".If you have the MycoMerger mod installed, you can also set TalkingCardsNontalkingMerge to true to allow the talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterpart at the Mycologists event. You can change what that counterpart is in the configuration but the recommended default is Talking Stoat with Stoat, Stinkbug with RingWorm, and Stunted Wolf with Wolf. When setting the card name in the configuration, it must be the internal card name and not the displayed card name.
The free walk and talk trail is a set of cards designed to support parents and carers of 0 to 5-year-olds to talk and play more with their children while they are out and about engaging in their daily routine. The cards have been produced by the National Literacy Trust to support the Start for Life campaign. Designed to be used in an urban environment, the cards provide a range of tips and activities that can be completed anywhere outside. The aim being to increase the frequency of interactions and enhance the quality of interactions between parent or carer and child. While this can be partly attributed to personality but I do believe including regular time to sit down and talk together in your family’s routine can also make a big difference. These conversation cards are designed by teachers, for teachers. This ensures that you know you're using resources that you can trust. Don't force them to speak if they don't want to! Also, allow them to speak in their native language to help them feel more comfortable.
Issues and Future Updates
These conversation cards are great for a whole class activity. You could print out a bunch of these cards and randomly hand them out to children. Then get them to walk around the classroom for a few minutes before you tell them to stop. Children should then use their conversation card to talk to the person nearest to them. After talking to them, children can exchange their cards and find someone else in the classroom to talk to. This is great for giving them lots of speaking practise. Parents' lives are busy and despite good intentions, between the school run, food shop, and work, the opportunities to engage their child in interactive conversations and play can be limited. In addition, the ability of many parents to interact with their child will be affected by personal experiences and financial pressures. This trail makes it easy to engage with children without having to think about how to do so. Supporting parents to find more opportunities to interact with their child within their daily routine, and offering guidance on how best to do this, will support the development of their child’s language and communication skills. Allows talking cards to be merged with their non-talking counterparts at the Mycologists when true. Requires the MycoMerger mod.
Applies balancing to the talking cards when true and uses the original Part 1 values for the talking cards otherwise. Talking Cards will be set as Rare. They will show up in Rare card choices and qualify as Rare for Rarity trials. You can have both this and TalkingCardsAppearInCardChoices active at the same time. Engaging your kids in conversation around the dinner table is invaluable. For them, and for you as the parent.
