About this deal

After using the TRA001 to make six dining chairs out of white oak, I have some observations. I bought an aluminum router table insert and installed the router in the wing of one of my table saws, with a separate paddle switch. It's powerful and drives the big pattern routing bit through the white oak just fine. I really like the variable speed and the above-the-table height adjustment, an

The range and availability of extras such as collets and guide bushes has been good with availability from other makes such as Trend also out there – always a good sign for a product. Triton Tools, leading brand of woodworking hand and power tools, is revealing its new router: the TRA002. For over 20 years, Triton’s TRA001 has been a workshop staple around the world. Renowned as being the router designed for woodworkers, by woodworkers, it continues to rate among the best in product head-to-heads and is highly sought after. This is a high quality powerful router that fully lives up to it's reputation. I would recommend this tool to anyone seeking reliable router with power to spare. The power switch has a plastic window you have to slide out of the way to switch on power. This is really inconvenient with the router under the table. I suppose mounting another switch to the table saw could solve that problem. Or, perhaps breaking off the plastic safety window. I also love the plunge system: it makes life easy when doing off hand work, and when mounted in the router table.I did have a problem with the plunging shaft. It broke on me. But, to be fair.. I use it a lot on, and off the table. Costumer service worked very hard to solve the issue. Offered to have it fixed by an authorized repair specialist. I am very mechanical so I repaired it myself after I received the free replacement part from triton. It's still under warranty, so they sent me the part with no problems. Supplied here in 240v with a range of accessories including: 1x Table Winder, 1x 1/2" Collet, 1x 12mm Collet, 1x Multi Function Fence & 1x Collet Spanner. I am now in discussions to convince them to make a plate with a bigger hole so that raised panel doors can be made on this table but from the first answers I'm not very confident it will happen! If you have a Workcentre 2000 and want a router table then this is a no-brainer; buy yourself one of these and (preferably) one of the excellent Triton routers and you will be set. Overall I like the router. I guess the only thing I'd chage is some of the parts feel like very cheap plastic. Like the plunging height stops and the plunging shaft. I have a feeling I will have the same problem in a few months because I use the router a lot.

So far, I've only used the table saw, but wow, how much easier it has made tasks. No way could I easily and accurately have trimmed a centimetre off both sides of a large cupboard door without this, leaving a perfect edge. It is very well thought out; for example, you can leave the table saw in it when folder up, which saves even more space in my limited workshop. I bought this tool a month ago... I have to admit I was slightly intimidated by this router as it is the most powerful I used so far; but I found it easy and safe to use. Its features are super useful and far from being gadgets! It is also a Dual Mode Router as you can either use it as a normal plunge one or you can also table mount it AND it comes with a winder handle to adjust the height/depth of the router bit whence used as a table mounted one!

Using the table in combination with an Triton router is a breeze. It's easy to adjust the table, attach dust extraction, and set the height of the router. I found no drift whatsoever when using it. The proprietary screw-on hose attachment is annoying. How about including an adapter for those of us who don't want to buy you proprietary vacuum? In the end I bought some plastic hose at ACE Hardware and duct taped it onto the vacuum port.

Bought this for exclusive use in a new table saw router table extension. The built-in lifter was a primary reason I selected this one and it is a nice feature. Nice powerful machine. Have not tried to push to its limits with very large bits but certainly works great with bits up to 1". A few convenience things could be improved to make it more of a perfect machine. A year ago I was using a homemade router table, with a cheap router. I had to partially strip the router to insert my homemade lift system. Eventually the router broke because it was taken apart too many times (and the quality wasn't up to par). I was fed up with this, and so I decided to invest in some decent equipment. No compatibility. If you want to use other manufacturers stuff you like with this great router, unless it's a guide bushing, you can pretty much forget it. The Triton TRA001s a great product but sometimes you want to upgrade the router without having to buy everything again except for the bits! (Guides, accessories, router table plate, etc). I own most of the other routers on the market at this price point. For this review I will state what I like and dislike as compared to those other routers. Every now and again I buy something that I simply cannot find a fault with and this is one of those items.
