One notable thing about these armies is that Chaos Space Marines can take units from each – the rules for Plague Marines, Rubric Marines, and Khorne Berzerkers are in each of these books/articles, and so you’ll need them if you want to include them in your army. Imperial Armour Compendium If you’re playing Chaos Space Marines, chances are you’re probably going to need at least two books if you want to really play. We’ve talked about the rules a bit in our general Getting Started article on the rules, but I’ll go into a bit more depth here.

It looks like there may be some value in the new Chaos Space Marines Combat Patrol; here is our price breakdown and review of the box. This book used to have crucial rules for the Chaos Legions, but as of the release of the Codex, it’s no longer valid. You can basically skip or ignore it for the purposes of Chaos Space Marines. The one set of rules in it that might still be legal however are the rules for Be’lakor and his army of renown, but it’s likely those rules will no longer be valid after the release of Codex: Chaos Daemons. Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol: World Eaters is one of the newest box sets to have been revealed by Games Workshop. This is one of the best ways to start collecting the World Eaters army or add to your Angron’s horde. The box comes with 20 Khorne Berzerkers and 10 Jakhals led by World Eaters Lord on Juggernaut, who can also be built as Lord Invocatus. Each Combat Patrol is supposed to be balanced against all the others. That might be hard to believe when looking at the contents of the Adeptus Custodes box set, as the boys in gold are notoriously hard! Setting the whole galaxy ablaze is even easier with a unit of power-mad Havocs. With a wide range of weapons, you can kit them out to mow down hordes of infantry or obliterate your enemy’s heavy support. We’ve added some Kataphron Destroyers to the Start Collecting! Adeptus Mechanicus box, adding a choice of serious firepower to supplement the Skitarii Rangers’ galvanic rifles. Able to shoot their heavy weapons on the move without penalty, the Kataphrons can bombard the enemy with fire while the Skitarii advance in their Skorpius Dunerider to capture objectives. Brave, honest and true, they only very occasionally indulge in macabre vampiric rituals with goblets of suspiciously viscous red ‘wine’– and it really is only once in a blue moon that one of them slips into an insane, suicidal killing frenzy fuelled by the overwhelming psychic grief imprinted in his DNA. The ‘Reborn in Blood’ ability that made him such a pain to (permanently) kill in ninth edition has been reworked. To reincarnate Angron, youneed to spend three sixes from your Blessings of Khorne roll. There’s about a 13% chance of rolling three or more sixes on eight dice.

It’s nice he works with pretty much everything in the box. Overall, a decent battleforce but we’ll have to see how everything works together in the new codex book just to be sure! New Chaos Space Marines Combat Patrol: Price & Value After one of your units is destroyed within range of an objective marker you control, you retain control of that marker even when you have no models contesting it, until your opponent claims it. Previously only available in the Burning of Prospero boxed set, Geigor Fell-Hand is available separately, for the first time ever, in plastic. He’s champing at the bit to be let loose on the enemies of the Imperium, and will lead your Space Wolves to savage glory on the battlefields of the 31st Millennium. Legiones Astartes: Praetor and Chaplain Consul We have a full guide to Khârn the Betrayerif you want to learn more about the blood-thirstiest madmen in the dark millennium.Known for their stealth tactics and use of Cultist forces seeded and outfitted ahead of their arrival, Alpha Legion work well with most units thanks to being more difficult to hit from a distance, helping them close the gaps. The rules for the Alpha Legion tend to favor versatility and subterfuge, and they have several rules that can apply to Cultists by virtue of just being INFANTRY-keyworded, though you may find they don’t necessarily want to run a ton of cultists. The new Codex: Chaos Space Marines is bursting with evil , covering all the rules you need to let the galaxy burn. Included are eight subfactions, plus datasheets for 44 units, as well as Relics, Stratagems, Crusade rules, prayers, psychic powers, Marks of Chaos, and other vile articles of blasphemy. The berzerkers were a small, rabid component in a larger scheme, masterminded by the Despoiler, but Khârn had his own, simple objectives. He sought out the mightiest heroes of the Blood Angels chapter of Space Marines, to slay them and take their skulls in the name of Khorne. With those additions we’re at 520 points before Wargear. With the one Combat Patrol that’s a total of 1025 points before wargear. Now, with all those Marines, you might want some transports. A CSM Rhino is going to be 80 points base and we’ll toss in a pair for the two units of Chaos Marines running around. That’s another 160 points before Wargear.

Bolster your forces – be they Traitor or Loyalist – with this set of two Adeptus Astartes HQ options. Originally available in the Space Marine Heroes set, these two plastic miniatures can lead your forces in both the martial and spiritual arenas. The Praetor is clad in Cataphractii Terminator armour, wielding a chainfist and a combi-melta, while the Chaplain is in artificer armour with a plasma pistol and Crozius Arcanum. You also get a set of Horus Heresy transfers. Dice: Sons of Horus and Imperial Fists The Warhammer 40K Combat Patrol: Blood Angels is a boxed set of 15 miniatures of collective 500-point value. The Blood Angels are another Space Marines Chapter, and they are direct descendants of the primarchs, the genetically-engineered sons of the Emperor of Mankind. In the story of the game, the Blood Angels have suffered heavy defeats, leading the vanguard against xenos across the universe and facing countless foes. In many ways these subfactions were the model for the Detachment system we see in 10th edition; each subfaction had its own stratagems and relics which did not overlap. We expect the Disciples of the Red Angel to return as a World Eaters Detachment in due course for 10th edition.

World Eaters combat patrol

likewise, the World Eaters are in transition to getting their own army at some point in the next year, and currently rules for the faction’s unique units can be found in White Dwarf 477. The Primarch of the World Eaters legion, Angron loathed his creator the Emperor long before the Heresy. His legion’s descent into madness during the great civil war was swift, and Angronwas rapidly elevated to daemonhood by Khorne, chaos God of war and murder. A new Angronmodelarrived in the World Eaters range refresh in 2023. The World Eaters were the principle antagonist of the little-known first war for Armageddon. Angron led his sons in an apocalyptic invasion of the vital Imperial industrial world, bringing the world to the verge of ruin before daemon primarch was banished to the warp by the elite daemon hunters of the Grey Knights. Chaos Space Marines are former servants of the Imperium who have turned to Chaos. They can be either members of the original 20 first founding legions or renegades, recently turned through violent rebellion. Some of them openly worship the Chaos powers and have dedicated their mortal lives to pleasing a particular god, while others don’t care for The Great Game and instead are just here to destroy the Imperium and hurt people. Often, chaos legions will ride into battle alongside daemons, or with the support of the great towering war machines who have also turned traitor – Chaos Knights. Either way, the goal is simple: Despoil the galaxy and claim it, either for the Ruinous Powers or your own purposes. This week’s Citadel Colour Masterclass is all about the basics of freehanding.
