About this deal

My understanding is that the facility burned,” Kennedy said. “It seems likely that they were inside.” Obviously, he has the potential to be a powerful tool. And he’s a simpler creature than Kennedy. He wears his motivations on his sleeve—love of country, loyalty to his comrades. He still sees America as a shining tower on a hill. Those kinds of delusions are easily manipulated.”

This is the first book of the famous series Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. This book initiates the thrilling journey of undercover cop Mitch Rapp. Kennedy brings some startling concerns to the president, that there is someone within the Agency scouring through sensitive intel and providing it to America’s enemies. The crux of the data leaks relate to Nicholas Ward, the world’s richest man. His work in the pharmaceutical field could change the lives of many, but if he falls into the wrong hands, there could be serious repercussions. President Cook agrees and allows Mitch Rapp to head out, in hopes of protecting Ward on the other side of the world.Within the first chapter I was hooked and ended up reading 85% of the novel in one sitting. The only reason I didn't finish it in one bite - I had to work the next day and get up early! (Thanks Kyle for keeping me up late! lol) In Uganda, Rapp is tasked with finding and keeping Ward out of harm’s way. However, there will be issues, as a ruthless warlord has his eye on the man and all that he could bring in the form of riches. Rapp will have to struggle through unfamiliar terrain to protect Ward and get to the bottom of what has been a secret laboratory that possesses Ward’s scientific work, all while remaining off the radar. Mitch Rapp has worked for several presidents over his career, but Anthony Cook is unlike any he’s encountered before. Cunning and autocratic, he feels no loyalty to America’s institutions and is distrustful of the influence Rapp and CIA director Irene Kennedy have in Washington. Finally, in a great character aside, look for how Mitch Rapp takes responsibility for the actions of the mole toward the end.

Mitch Rapp’s high school sweetheart Maureen Eliot, who was attending Syracuse University with Rapp, was killed in the December 21, 1988 bombing of Pan Am Flight 103. One year later he was recruited into the Central Intelligence Agency by Irene Kennedy. When Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she convinces Rapp to take a job protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets. There is a wolf in the White House and mole in the CIA and only Mitch Rapp can stop them both in Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills' newest work, ENEMY AT THE GATES! There is a new president in the White House and Rapp, Irene Kennedy, and Mike Nash must navigate the political waters of Washington and prevent a president hellbent on power and greed from changing the world landscape. Not only does Rapp have to stop the president's influence abroad, but Rapp, along with Scott Coleman, are tasked with saving the richest man in the world and using him as bait to snuff out the traitor in the CIA. Can the #1 badass on the planet survive the jungles of Uganda, the desert of Saudi Arabia, and the thoughts of walking away from it all for good?

Need Help?

When Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she assigns Rapp the task of protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets. Kudos, Mr. Mills, for another great piece. I am eager to see where you will take us in the coming years! Vince Flynn was born in Saint Paul in Minnesota USA. He was among seven siblings. Flynn had completed his graduation in economics and after graduation, he started working as an accountant at Kraft Foods. While working there, he applied for a job as an aviator with United States Marine Corps but got rejected due to medical reasons. Vince Flynn Journey as a Writer Mitch Rapp has worked for a number of presidents over his career, but Anthony Cook is unlike any he’s encountered before. Cunning and autocratic, he feels no loyalty to America’s institutions and is distrustful of the influence Rapp and CIA director Irene Kennedy have in Washington.

Irene Kennedy – Irene Kennedy (introduced in Transfer of Power as Director of the Counter-terrorism Center) is Mitch Rapp’s recruiter, friend, and staunch supporter. She is the Director of the CIA. First, there’s no question that we need to send a team to Uganda to try to find Chism. We know how Ward feels about us but to date he hasn’t gotten too deeply involved in politics. We don’t need him rethinking that and staking out a position against your administration. I think we both agree there’s no chance of turning him into an ally, but if we do him this favor, we might be able to neutralize him as an enemy.”Regional threats have a way of expanding in unpredictable ways, Mr. President. It’s a lesson we’ve learned over and over.” Fun Fact: Kyle Mills initially found inspiration from his father who was the former director of Interpol. Narrator is a living legend, he is one of my favs and that says a lot as I've listened to 4,000 books. One of the secondary characters from the entire series is written way out of character, as author takes liberties with him that are unwarranted and ends in tragedy and a travesty.
