Description

Drax comes to us in a holiday sweater that features a dancing potted Baby Groot. Drax has traded in his usual daggers for a fork and spoon. What better way to chow down on the table full of treats? Drax’s frenemy Mantis surprises with a blue guitar accessory. (For caroling, I guess?) Oddly, Drax also includes a spur of the purple Infinity Stone (the Power Stone). While this is the stone the Guardians sought to protect in their first movie, it has no immediately obvious purpose here beyond that homage. This year’s LEGO City advent calendar is for ages five and up, however, some reviewers supervise whilst their younger kids (around ages three to four) build some sections. Do LEGO advent calendars sell out?

We FINALLY get a decent build out of the GOTG Advent Calendar with Day 18’s sensational Milano Spaceship. Looking at the excellent ship designs we’ve been getting in the Star Wars Advent Calendar , I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for a more sophisticated design that truly mimics and does The Guardians’ Ship design justice. On the inside of each flap door is a picture of its respective build, which also doubles as your instructions; there is no separate booklet to explain how to put these together. In theory, this means that the single picture must be self-evident enough to convey what is typically depicted in multiple steps.

Do LEGO advent calendars sell out?

Shop now: LEGO advent calendars are often released well before the holiday season. So, be sure to shop early to avoid disappointment later. What LEGO advent calendars are there? Day 8 is a bit of a nothingburger, even if it’s reasonable festive. We get a complete LEGO Turkey, a stand/table, and some flames to roast it. We also love that the last three days of the calendar include different pieces to build a supersonic sleigh on day 24 – a great collector’s piece which will be a firm favourite in any child’s collection. The Potter set also has phenomenal mini-figures. You get a Moaning Myrtle. You get a Neville Longbottom, complete with the sword of Godric Gryffindor.

This is the correct orientation of the build, so the instructions on the flap are upside down, but you should remember these pesky drones from the prison break scene in the first Guardians movie, and are especially memorable as we get the first “I am Groot” from Groot as he takes a whole swarm of them down. As always, the instruction of each day’s builds are printed on the inside of the doors, so be careful and try not to rip them out!

What age is the LEGO City advent calendar for?

That initial attempt at a LEGO Marvel advent calendar covered a wide array of characters both cosmic and street-level, but this time the focus is solely on the Guardians of the Galaxy to tie in with their upcoming holiday special, which streams on Disney+ later in 2022. The design team behind 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar understood the brief, filling the doors with references to the team’s Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures and the usual seasonal models. At least there’s a music theme going on, and Peter Quill does like his tunes. But it’s still consistently a let down, and doesn’t really scream GOTG or Christmas much. We’ll pass no judgment regarding the current status of your Christmas shopping, but if you’re thinking of grabbing an advent calendar either for yourself or a loved one, now is time to do it. The traditional chocolate calendars are all well and good, but there’s an advent calendar for everyone, and we’ve already rounded up the best alcohol, coffee, tea, LEGO, beauty and Funko-based offerings.

The chestnuts are roasting, the carol singers and clearing their throats, and you’d be wise to wear a helmet and pads if you so much as step foot inside a department store on a Saturday afternoon. This can all mean only one thing: the Christmas season has arrived, with December just days away. Following 2021’s excellent Marvel/Avengers-themed Advent Calendar, we’re getting a Guardians of the Galaxy-theme Advent Calendar, featuring characters and settings from the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. LEGO releases a variety of advent calendars each year, catering to different themes and interests. Some of the most common LEGO advent calendar themes (which you’ll find on our list) include: Finally, the rest of the builds are a mix of microscale ships and crafts from the Guardians films. They include the Milano and the Benatar. The others are a little harder to pinpoint, one is a drone, another is a Knowhere Mining Pod and one of the others seems to be a Sovereign craft.LEGO: Available from September 1, 2022 — LEGO Marvel 76231 Guardians of the Galaxy Advent Calendar build —

Honestly, it’s quite bland like Turkey (sorry to all the Turkey fans, but ham is better), and feels like it should’ve been paired with another build as it’s not substantial at all, or very GOTG. Star-Lord, the not-as-charismatic-as-he-thinks leader of the Guardians, comes with his laser blasters and jets strapped to the sides of his boots (made from gold roller skates). The mix tapes his mom made for him are represented by a new tile print on both a larger stereo and a smaller portable radio. The stereo has a pair of detached speakers, while a gift box containing a pair of dark tan headphones gives Star-Lord a way to listen to the smaller radio. And what LEGO Advent set would be complete without some microscale vehicles? There are five small ships in total, including microscale versions of Star Lord’s original ship, the Milano, the team’s upgraded M-Class Benatar, and Yondu’s Laser Drill pod from the second movie. They're based in convenient locations including supermarkets, newsagents and train stations. Plus they're often open late and on Sundays. Well would you look at that, we did for three for three with Day 19’s Groot minifigure. We get a young adult version of Groot, which has a dark tan colour scheme, and really nice detailed printing across his torso and legs.
