About this deal

Many veteran hill-users won’t be seen without their poles. After a lifetime of knee abuse from ascending and descending countless mountain paths, they become a valuable bit of equipment, particularly on those paths that have consistently large drops between each step. Interchangeable baskets and tips: The “basket” is the ski-shoe type attachment above the pole’s tip. Baskets stop your pole from sinking into the ground, and they come in different types and sizes for different terrains such as soft mud and snow. Tips come in different types, too: single-point carbide tips are basically a spike and good for trails; rubber tips are better for hard surfaces and chiselled tips boost traction on slippery surfaces.

The ‘Skin’ strap is very forgiving and slides on the wrist without much friction. Being wide these offer support if you like to be tied to the pole, although personally I don’t. The handles, called Aergon Thermo Long Grip by Leki, are super comfortable to use. I find cork handles, which are ubiquitous on a lot of brands these days, quite irritating and abrasive over time. The foam construction on the Vario Carbon allows use without gloves and the long section with added grips means you can vary the pole height instinctively depending on your body position, without the need to stop and adjust the length. The rounded handle top is rubber coated, so using the palms to push or lean on the handles is comfortable and safe. The Leki Skin Strap is an ultra-lightweight, highly breathable strap offering maximum comfort with minimum weight that is simple to adjust. Walkers can really benefit from a version of the skiing technique used by Nordic walkers and skiers; if you saw cross country skiing you’ll be aware of this technique. The simplest way to learn is to find a flat piece of ground large enough to walk comfortably, a football pitch or park is ideal.More points in the versatility department is in the ability to change the baskets of these poles. Leki have made it possible for you to switch out the standard trekking basket with a wider snow basket, making the pole suitable for ski touring, snowshoeing and general winter hiking. There’s a comfortable hold as well thanks to the anatomically shaped grip which has a good bit of softness to it. All-in-all, we’d say the Hikemaster is the ideal combination of size and weight for long treks into the mountains. The pole is suited to a variety of weather conditions with the foam grips performing well in both warm and cold weather and with included snow baskets, the pole can be used in light snow.

Thanks to the carbon and foam used, the pole weighs a little over 450g making it one of the lightest tested. It isn’t as light as some of the other carbon poles, but made up for this in that it had more features and was more versatile than some of the superlight offerings.Skládací hole od LEKI vynikají minimálními rozměry po složení a ultra lehkostí. Ať už se chystáte na přístup k ferratě, na trail running nebo menší pěší túry.

The poles come with two sizes of baskets, one for snow and a smaller one for regular hiking. They’re easy to screw on and off. This is an excellent pair of carbon poles that should be durable and long lasting. In fact, they’re one of the best trekking poles out there and proved a close contender for best buy – though they’re not the cheapest option. BUY NOW: MSRGEAR.COM Mechanismus vyvinutý společností LEKI vyniká extrémně rychlým nastavením a upevněním také v silných rukavicích při vlhku, ledu a sněhu. Šroub má bezpečností funkci s možností nastavení. 30% menší, 25% lehčí, přes 20% více opory Comfort is something that doesn’t necessarily reveal itself right away when you’re talking about trekking poles. At first handle, you tend to notice how your hand mates with the pole handle, how adjustable the poles are for your particular height and use, and maybe how they absorb vibration. What you can’t immediately discern is how that’s going to translate over time, or in my case, over many miles.

Conclusion

These poles also feature extended grips, with a lower secondary foam rubber section that makes it easy to choke down on a sharp ascent, without having to change the pole length. The rounded Aergon handle has been ergonomically engineered to nestle nicely in the palm. The straps are simple fabric strips, which adjust easily. Rychlé složení holí jedním tlačítkem ve speciální konstrukci zaručující vysokou stabilitu a bezpečnost. Leki make some of the best trekking poles in the business. They’ve been leaders in the market since 1970 and now make dedicated poles for all manner of outdoor sports, from skiing and trekking to trail running and Nordic walking. Adjustable length: Size really matters. You should be able to hold your elbow at a 90-degree angle when holding the pole by its hand grip. Either make sure you choose the right length for your height (specialist retailer Alpinetrek has an interactive guide to help you) or buy a fully adjustable pole. Not only can you adjust it to suit your height, but also for different needs – for example, downhill stretches need a longer pole than uphill treks. Look out, world of walking poles – Alain’s here to shake things up. Les Baton’s d’Alain (French for ‘Alain’s poles’) are eye-catchingly bright hiking and skiing poles designed and made in the shadow of Mont Blanc in Chamonix in the French Alps by mountain guide Alain Desez.
