As quiet as it is speedy, the box makes 1080p content look sharp, but comes into its own when you have a 4K HDR TV, as both picture technologies are supported. Features and Apps
The T4 and T4-R will also support Channel List Management, a newer Freeview function that enables HD-swapping of channels. With Freeview Play, you get the normal EPG, which you can use to switch between “live” shows – but you can also use that same guide to jump directly into streaming apps like BBC iPlayer, to watch past programmes on-demand. The T3-R is 4K and HDR – that’s to say, HDR10 and HLG – ready, although the catch is that there’s no 4K carried over the air on the Freeview platform. It will play 4K from YouTube and BBC iPlayer test streams, however. Audio compatibility covers Dolby Digital Plus and stereo. When using surround sound speakers audio and the T3•R was set to output surround sound, audio could be heard for HD programmes with 2.0 audio from only the left and right speakers. When you select an episode, the appropriate app will automatically start with the right episode ready to play. Audio visual quality is top-notch, having the ability to stream in 4K from YouTube is welcome, and the Freeview Play interface is on the right side of leading-edge. You shouldn’t buy it if… rd channel viewing and timeshifting: when recording on two channels you can now watch a 3 rd channel. The available channels will depend on the two that are recording.
