About this deal

Supports may not always be essential, and you may be able to get away without them if you are growing shorter cultivars or are growing them in a particularly sheltered spot. Herbaceous peonies usually require some kind of support, while intersectional and shrub-like tree peonies can often manage without it.

But I found pulling the wire over the top of the ring in a 5-point star pattern was faster and easier. (please see video). A signature will be required upon delivery unless we have authorisation from you that the goods can be left. Many have tall stems and large flower heads, so you may be wondering whether or not you need to install supports for the peonies you have chosen. Do Peonies Need Support?Getting into the habit of adding your peony plant supports before your plant even start to grow will make it much easier to keep the flowers from flopping every spring. Diameter refers to the top ring on the trumpet support - the diameter is roughly 10cm smaller for the bottom ring

Grid-type hoop supports can be better than open hoops because they provide support not just for the whole clump, but for individual stems. Dobies strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3. As the peony begins to emerge in the spring sunshine, push the three-legged cone well into the soil to provide ‘all-round’ protection from wind and rain. Every true gardener knows, peonies love the sun and hate too much water.

The problem with staking is that you may need rather a lot of them to support all the stems in larger clumps, or where a large number of peonies are grown. If your peony bush is too large to use grow through plant supports, then you can create a DIY peony cage using plant stakes and ties. Ideal for peonies, but can be used with lots of other flowering plants such as tulips, alliums, delphinium, lupins and more The Trumpet Shaped Peony Plant Supports are available in 2 heights (60cm & 90cm) and 4 diameters (30cm, 40cm, 50cm & 60cm - this refers to the top ring of the support) and are designed to be pushed between 10-20cm into the ground for stability and depending on the required height for the plant. The height is from the bottom of the feet to the top ring.

Traditionally designed to support peonies, the design of these supports makes them ideal for supporting a wide range of plants. Delivery is Mainland UK and excludes The Highlands and Isle of Wight, Isle of man and Channel Islands. Here’s what you’ll need to make homemade plant supports for peonies, and the step by step instructions for assembly. If you're interested in a bit of DIY, head to our piece on how to make your own plant supports, but if you don't have the time, and you like the trend for metal rusty peony supports, then below is our list of our favourite peony supports. You might also consider creating rings or lines of stakes around a clump, or several peony clumps, with natural twine or other strings between them. 2) Plant Support Hoops Don’t cut peony foliage down to the ground too early or your peony won’t have enough time to store up the energy it needs to bloom in the spring. Supporting peonies is important to keep them looking their best. In this post, I will teach you how to support your peonies so that you can enjoy their beauty for years to come! These fluted supports allow peony clumps to develop and sit more naturally, catering to their growth and form.

The cone-shaped supports are manufactured from 6mm solid steel wire and they are also ideal for Daisies, verbascum etc. Many peonies will benefit from some kind of support, to prevent breakage to the stems and damage in winds or heavy rains. Place the tomato cage upside down on a flat surface. Using the bolt cutters cut just below the bottom ring. (though it looks to be the top ring, remember this is upside down for working on)This very popular plant support also provides plenty of room to grow and gradually disappears into the foliage as the peony grows Make your peony the star of the show Planting potted peonies is a great way to get a bit of a head start on growing these beautiful plants. Some are pricier than others. Gardeners Supply has some that are just beautiful but way out of my budget. This peony plant support is for you, especially if you prefer your peonies not be eclipsed by expensive, overly decorative plant supports. Protect your peonies from inclement weather
