About this deal

With the 28mm in hand, you can take in more of a scene. It's a great choice for documentary, travel or scenic photography when you want to take in all of what's happening in front of you. Its ultra-wide field of view may not be ideal for tight focusing on a single subject, but if what you are looking for is a camera to capture the scenery or to take in the busy environment of a bustling city, the 28mm lens of the GR III would be my choice. The RICOH GR III Street Edition, a high-grade digital compact camera that doesn’t include the viewfinder and the strap, is also scheduled to be launched in the autumn of 2020. Pricing and Availability The new lens is generally a very capable performer, with only traces of lateral chromatic aberration and negligible distortion, and very good sharpness across the frame. Consistency does improve a little once you stop down the aperture, but it's still better than expected at f/2.8. Vignetting, however, is a surprisingly constant presence throughout the aperture range, so it's worth keeping the effective Peripheral Illumination control enabled to rectify this.

You can shoot this way with any mirrorless camera by manually setting the lens to appropriate distance for a given aperture. But most modern cameras don’t have a reliable focus distance scales for manual focus and you have to “estimate” the distance by focusing on an object in the real world. The ND filter is also on hand for stills, as is Shake Reduction, for the first time on a GR model. Also making its debut is Dust Removal, which should hopefully fix the issue that some previous GR-series owners experienced where dust would get inside the camera and affect images, and would be impossible to remove without taking the whole thing apart. Camera shake is reduced for crisp images even when taking split-second snapshots. Shake Reduction is installed while making the body size of the GR III more compact than its predecessor model. It minimizes the shake on three axes, including yaw, pitch and roll. Compensation effects deliver as many as 4 steps of shutter speed*. A six-element, four-group optical system is used to achieve images that are sharp from the center to the edge with clear depiction. The optical system is slim and compact so the body can accommodate an in-camera Shake Reduction mechanism. The effects of camera shake on image quality are minimized and the full capabilities of the newly designed GR lens optical performance are maximized for a variety of scenes. Display magnification (4x, 16x), Grid display (4×4 Grid, 3×3 Grid), Histogram, Bright area warning, Electronic Level

The Ricoh GR3 produces images that have a signature look. I don’t want call these images “filmic” because I hate that word. But they definitely have a filmic quality. Colors are accurate and subdued without that sort of video camera sheen you see from so many digital cameras. No more taking time to think about what you’re going to focus on and aquiring focus. Just set it and forget it!A lot of street photographers (myself included) want the entire frame to be in focus and use composition to draw attention to different elements within the shot. With the Snap Focus on the Ricoh GR III, I can set my aperture at f9 and my snap focus distance to 2 meters and shoot confidently knowing that everything from about 1 meter (3 feet) to infinity is going to be sharp. So there’s all that – but you can get specs anywhere. I’m more interested in the character of a given camera and how it performs in the real world while shooting on the street. When the camera's power is turned off, the camera displays a shutdown screen consisting of the specially designed product logo and a street-view image that symbolizes the camera's "street snapshot" concept. Cameras – LCD screen is heavily worn either by de-lamination or has scratches to it. Rubber grips are starting to come away from the body.

Anyway, because of that, the most common f-stop is probably going to be f/8. However, the one use case where this camera could use a faster lens is in night photography. Otherwise, I do not really have a problem with the lens. The 40mm equivalent lens, on the other hand, focuses more on a subject, making it a great camera to use for portraiture and creating compelling shots that allow you to tell a great story. Don’t get me wrong the camera body itself and everything behind the lens are the same as the GR III, but if you’re looking to capture more portrait photography and focus on the people within your environment, go with the 40mm found on the GR IIIx.With Image Sync version (2.0.4), you can only view and transfer images via a wireless LAN connection. The GR III is compatible with additional accessories such as the Ricoh Wide Conversion Lens GW-4 that works with the GA-1 lens adapter to achieve a 21mm (35mm equivalent) wide-angle view, with a magnification of 0.75x. Shortened the screen switching time when changing image control and other settings in RAW development. Each addition to the range has very little between them in terms of quality, they all use the same 24.24MP APS-C CMOS Sensor with identical processing power. This is ideal because it means that part of your decision of which version becomes your go-to street camera is then based purely on your aesthetic style. It's rare to get this kind of choice within a camera range, and it's one of the great aspects of the Ricoh GR series that makes it so appealing to so many photographers.

In ever-changing city views, capture once-in-forever moments on the street with the GR III Street Edition Camera. The model features a metallic gray body, orange-yellow ring cap and includes an extra battery, inspired by street photographers who are in their element on the asphalt pavement.
