About this deal

A. Two main reasons, 1) It makes it much easier to achieve a nice neat finish with minimal filling and sanding 2) It helps protect your investment from damage creating a good base for paint or decorative wallpaper at the same time. It begins to work from the moment the heating is turned on and is especially effective on walls where the other side is exposed to the elements or an unheated room. Q. I remember those old polystyrene insulation tiles that were a real fire hazard, so I have worries in this regard about Thermal Liner? Mark the wall away from the corner approx. 70cm (thermal Liner) 95cm (KV600) and draw a plumb line (straight) to start from. Condensation forms when the warm air hits a cold wall or ceiling, the bigger the difference between the room air temperature and the surface temperature of the wall the worse condensation problems are likely to be. T he same as cold drink outside on a warm summer day when condensation forms on the the glass.

Retro fitted cavity wall insulation doesn't have this and can in some cases act as a bridge for penetrating water to the inner leaf of the wall causing damp, the wet cavity can also lead to premature corrosion of wall ties. This is more likely on a Victorian cavity wall than a larger modern cavity wall. Lots of the companies that put the CWI in also don't have the best reputations. When used in isolation this product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes or on ceilings. Q. I like the product however I’m worried about how it will look around light switches and skirting boards for example. You probably need to look at slightly larger render companies to do the work as they are more likely to have previous experience.

With rising energy costs the vast majority of us are looking for ways to save money: KV600 offers a cost effective, practical way to save energy in your home as well as helping to create a cosier environment. It has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust because of its thermal efficiency and energy saving properties. A. The roll are extra wide so each roll will cover 7.5 m2 or 121 ft2. Please use the link below to calculate the square meterage you may require, you will need to select Klimatec Thermovlies on the scroll menu. http://www.erfurt.com/cms/en/advisor/advisormain/calculation.html Follow the instructions and apply the liner directly to a surface pre-coated with Thermal Liner Adhesive. A.Thermal liner is classified as "E" according to DIN EN 13501-1 in relation to its reaction to fire behavior, which corresponds to "B2"(normally inflammable) according to the standard DIN 4102-1The wall or ceiling surface warms up much faster too thus reducing cold air currents and draughts that can make occupants feel cold – most of us have experienced standing near a cold window in a warm room and still feeling cold. Once the room is up to temperature, KV600 carries on working providing significant reductions in energy lost through the surface

A. Yes you will do, especially when the heating is first turned on as room warm up time is reduced dramatically and the air currents that make you feel cold whilst a room warms up are also reduced. This is of course in addition to all the other benefits such as a reduction in noise entering through the treated wall. It's always best to choose a breathable thermal lining paper option, and KV600 is one of the most trusted on the market. You can apply over a paper product e.g. lining paper, woodchip embossed papers. Do not apply over vinyl or blown vinyl wallpaper, as this will reduce the breathability of the thermal liner. Again lightly sand then PVA bond the wallpaper. This product should not be used in isolation for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building Regulations are applicable. If used as part of a system that both adds to the insulation value and protects the surface from fire it may be compliant but expert advice should be sought. Use only paste-the-wall wallcoverings if you are planning to overhang the KV600 with another liner**. As a final tip – if you are going round the corners of rooms with the thermal liner, I suggest cutting it as per the diagram below. Walls, which have a surface temperature that is distinctly cooler than the ambient temperature, are an ideal breeding ground for mould. This is why the problem is often seen on outside walls and close to windows. The warm and moist room air condenses on the cooler areas of the walls and creates condensation. The moist walls then form a perfect breeding ground for mould to grow. Allow at least 24 hours for drying, longer if conditions are especially humid or cold. Wherever possible we also recommend that the thermal liner is allowed to dry out naturally and therefore the heating is turned off whilst the adhesive dries out. However if temperatures are likely to drop below 10°c/50°F it is advisable that low level heating is used to ensure that the adhesive can cure effectively.

You can usually buy it from your gas or electricity company at a good price; they are highly unlikely to go bust or run off if there is a problem. It's not like complaining to a double-glazing or a kitchen fitting company. Your husbands concerns about cavity wall insulation have a valid basis. It can in some cases cause serious problems with penetrating damp, condensation and corrosion of wall ties. This is an important consideration, as it means that the thermal liner won't trap moisture in the walls, and prevents the fear of potential damp and mold problems. We'd not recommend putting ceramic tiles over the thermal liner. If you want to hang ceramic tiles over the thermal liner, please use the Professional Insulation Panels instead.

Thermally efficient wallpapers hold more of the heat energy from the room’s air at the wall surface helping to combat the conditions which promote condensation forming and mould growing.
