About this deal

Described by Candy as a personal assistant, Smart Touch is available via its simply-Fi app and is the first voice-assisted washing machine. Candy claims its smart technology can help you choose a wash program, give you a maintenance guide and give you further hints and tips to get through your laundry. Take the no-fuss approach to the laundry with the Candy CSO1493DWCE. This freestanding washing machine comes with a generous capacity, an impressive spin speed, and a multitude of programmes to get your clothes cleaned to perfection. Wash Programmes Named programmes are always the best option on a washing machine, both for convenience and ease of use. Sadly, the control panel on the Smart Pro is symbol heavy – meaning that you might be able to remember which is cotton and which the mixed load but if you’re washing anything out of the ordinary, you’ll need the instructions, which has a useful programme table in it, to hand, or spend time scrolling through the dial one by one waiting for the display to tell you what it is.

As it’s rated A+++, with an A-rated spin, the Candy Smart Pro should be efficient on most cycles. I started with a cotton wash at 30ºC to test this. This cycle used 0.58kWh of power and a minimal 26.6l of water. While the maximum spin speed was only 1400rpm, it still managed to wring out an impressive amount of water – only 1.02kg remained, which equals 37.23% of the load’s original weight.Where to buy it: Appliance Centre , John Lewis or Buywise Who makes smart washing machines and how much do they cost? Daily 49, Spot Plus 39, Hygiene Plus 59, Rapid 14, 30, 44 minutes, Mixed and Coloured 59 special wash cycles Miele’s Miele@home smart connectivity lets you control your device through the Miele app, voice control or other smart home solutions, networked via a home wi-fi router and the Miele Cloud. Memory feature: Some will remember your most used programs and suggest them when you're setting your wash.

Featuring a 9kg capacity and an impressive spin speed of 1400 rpm, this Candy washing machine will have your family’s garments clean and fresh in a flash. Discover 14 programmes to suit all kinds of fabrics, including: Remote control using an app: Start, pause and stop your wash using your smartphone, tablet, Alexa or Google Assistant. Troubleshooting: Machines can detect issues and maintenance jobs that need doing, and notify you instantly via the app. The 'care advisor' will ask you a handful of questions about the load, including the fabric, colour and stain before washing accordingly. Bosch uses Home Connect, an app that can control appliances from numerous brands. A number of its machines are smart – we've tested two – and the wi-fi capability is a 'core' feature, meaning wi-fi models are much more common than they once would have been.Fortunately, you don’t have to just rely on the controls to find your ideal wash – the Smart Pro connects to the Simply Fi Wi-Fi app, which can work out what programme you need based on the type of fabric and level of soiling, before starting the programme remotely. While it does not completely function over form, there’s little in the way of style details on the Smart Pro. A silver-effect finish around the door, scooped handle and an LED display are about as flashy as it gets. Given the price, this isn’t entirely unexpected, just a little out of keeping with its more hi-tech features. The new Active Motion Technology boosts the detergent cleaning action by raising the rotation speed of the drum at multiple levels, allowing to enhance your washing results, saving time and reducing machine vibrations. Candy Smart Pro is equipped with the new Simply-Fi technology, discolsing additional and unique features as voice tips, efficiency enhancer and wifi remote function intended to make washing even more smooth and convenient.

Automatic program selection: After filling in a few simple details, the app will determine the most suitable program for your laundry. For in-depth running costs, I used the figures stated on the EU energy label, which assume 220 washes per year. This meant I could utilise the stated energy and water consumption figures to give an average cost per wash, using average electricity and water costs. With a delay start the laundry will be ready just when you want it. It allows you to program the start of the washing cycle with a maximum delay of 24 hours. No more worries of unpleasant odours created by wet laundry that has been left inside the machine. No more wasting of the energy consumption, setting the laundry when the electricity is more convenient. Coming with dial controls and a built in display, choosing the correct cycle is a breeze. And, its white finish ensures it will suit any kitchen décor. Like other apps, you can start, pause and stop cycles, and it will also notify you when the cycle has finished. The stain strip featured, left to right – red wine, vegetable oil, tomato sauce, orange juice and gravy, all left to dry into the fabric. At the end of the cycle, the red wine remained, though fainter, and there was a trace of ketchup in the fabric. We reached out to the biggest brands to find out more about support policies and, as you can see, some are falling well short of this measure. As the Smart Pro is a more affordable machine, I expected that it would make more noise than a more expensive model, although it actually wasn’t that bad. Normal washing recorded a level of just over 60dB, while the spin was noisier at 72.7dB. Both readings were taken from 30cm from the middle of the door If your children have been playing outside and they’ve got a little messy, then the Extra Rinse setting will blast away any caked-on dirt. Plus, you can even delay the start of your wash by up to 24 hours, so a load will be ready at a convenient time. Smart Pro
