Reminds me of how probiotic beauty products are now suddenly being touted as new and trendy, when probiotics and fermented ingredients have been kind of a staple in Asian beauty for many decades. This has the light, easily absorbing texture of toner, with the moisture and nutrition of an essence - perfect for layering. But until a few years ago, most essences focused mostly on hydration and a little less on nourishing the skin. And when you have dry or damaged skin, you need to act on these two aspects, hydration and nutrition.

Imagine not having to wear highlighter but looking like you are, except it’s from within your skin, rather than it sitting on top of your skin, like highlighter does! Regarding the value for money, I find it a bit pricey, although clearly, with its 150 ml and the amount I use, it’s going to last me a while, probably 6 to 8 months in total. the I’m From’s Rice Toner essence is the least “rich” and for me, it’s closer to a classic essence than an all-in-one product.Dr. Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence is perfect for all skin types especially dry, sensitive, dull or imbalanced. My other ferment products tend just to brighten, and if they do hydrate like a toner, they don’t always brighten as much as this does, and those other products don’t have a moisturising component either. This essence reminds me of two products I really like, the Amorepacific Vintage Single Extract Essence and the LaNeige Cream Skin Refiner. The Dr.Ceuracle would be kind of like a mix of the two! Camellia Sinensis Leaf Water, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Triethylhexanoin, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), Water, 1,2-Hexanediol, Methylpropanediol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Schisandra Chinensis Fruit Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus Seed Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Trilaureth-4 Phosphate, Polyquaternium-51, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil Unsaponifiables, Butylene Glycol, Dextrin, Ceramide NP, Ethylhexylglycerin.” The essence doesn’t really have a fragrance, unlike e.g. the strawberry milk textured Aromatica Reviving Rose Infusion Treatment Toner, and it feels pretty much exactly like a cold milk tea would, watery-milky and with only minimal oiliness. Compared to the Aromatica toner, I would say this is overall a little bit less moisturising, which I actually almost prefer now that we are moving into warmer weather. I haven’t tried the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner* yet, that other super popular cream skin style toner, but from what I have read and heard others share about it, I would say the Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Essence is less oily in feel and texture. To complete the cream skin comparison, the Kombucha Essence is noticeably more moisturising than the very lightweight, rice milk textured I’m from Rice Toner.
