The story, as ever, is largely a framework to hang the action on, but this time it sees Khan as a relatively inexperienced cop who impresses her superiors by taking down a robber and is sent to the serious crimes squad, commanded by her uncle (Paul Chun), who doesn’t want her to be a cop. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a team of thieves led by by a couple (Stuart Ong as Nakamura and Michiko Nishiwaki who simply uses her real name for the character) takes down a jewellery show by a famous designer, killing many people in the process, including the partner of Policeman Hiroshi Fujioka (also using his real name in character). He comes to Hong Kong on their trail, and ends up teaming up with Khan to take the male and female thieves down. To my eyes, Yes, Madam!is no different than the presentation on the Eureka UK Blu-ray release, therefore here’s my review from that one: Yen, young in his career, stages a number of startlingly fast, expertly choreographed fights including a finale rife in production value near an airport. Other than unfortunate, unnecessary slow motion, it’s a near-flawless climax, and joined to two other coinciding battles. In addition, Yen projects a sure-handed coolness, not ego, that elevates his character. Mr. Odessa on Don’t miss Goodie Emporium’s New Release update! Frank Djeng and Michael Worth return from their commentary on In the Line of Duty III, and an additional older commentary comes from Hong Kong expert Stefan Hammond and actor Michael Wong. An interview with Donnie Yen precedes trailers. Their success in this film led to Donnie Yen, John Salvitti, Michael Woods and Yuen Woo-ping reuniting for “Tiger Cage 2”. Learning a great deal from the master action director Yuen Woo-ping and action star Donnie yen, Salvitti went onto have a successful career as a fight choreographer in his own right. He most recently re-teamed with Donnie for the films “Flashpoint”, “Special ID” and “Kung Fu Killer”, and worked with Jean-Claude Van Damme on “Pound of Flesh”. Death-defying stunts, insane action set-pieces, and some of the best martial-arts choreography ever captured on film – In the Line of Duty IV is an unhinged Hong Kong action masterpiece and Eureka Classics is proud to present it in its UK debut on Blu-ray. In the Line of Duty III is taken from a brand new 2K restoration that is presented in a 1.85:1 AVC 1080p encodement on Blu-ray Disc from Eureka Classics. The overall image for the film looks very organic, with a natural layer of grain and exceptional detail, depth of field, and nuanced shadows. The contrast is superb even given the often desaturated and dim look given to the film overall. Some of the night scenes present stark contrasts, vivid neon signs of Hong Kong, and clean shadows without a lot of elevated noise or graininess. The Audio Limited Edition O-Card slipcase featuring new artwork by Darren Wheeling [First Print Run of 2000 copies]How do you top the first two In The Line of Duty films? Easy... bigger explosions, wilder fights and even crazier stunts! This time, two Japanese thieves have fled to Hong Kong with a tough J-cop (Cynthia Khan, Blade of Fury) hot on their heels. It's up to Hong Kong's finest to stop the villains before too much damage is done!

In the Line of Duty IV spends minimal time on storyline, retreading the familiar series routine of international police joining on a case, with Khan the righteous, rule-following cop. Yen, as her partner, chooses violence over courtroom justice. It’s ludicrous in a sense as Yen plays an “American” cop from “Seattle,” but that’s rapidly forgotten – In the Line of Duty IV is close to all action, or as close as possible without losing interest in the crime drama entirely. I’m running out of ways to say that Eureka continue to deliver the goods in their presentation of their line of martial arts classics. The mono sound is solid if unspectacular, but the restoration of the image makes these movies look better than they likely ever have in the UK. It’s another impressive job. On March 20, 2023, Eureka will be releasing the Blu-ray (Region B) for In the Line of Duty III, a 1988 Hong Kong actioner directed by Arthur Wong ( Ulterior Motive) and Brandy Yuen ( Three Against the World). Now, In the Line of Duty IV, talk about finding your footing again four entries into a loosely connected film series. Yeun Woo-Ping, a hugely talented filmmaker and stunt coordinator, gets the helm in this story of Cynthia Khan in Seattle after some drug smugglers, and this time Donnie Yen is here and plays a hotheaded cop with a sadistic bloodlust. The humor that usually shows up is replaced with adrenaline-fueled action in nearly every other scene, constantly keeping the audience on their toes and not paying attention to the somewhat-thin storyline underneath. And at 95 minutes, it’s all very economical and respectful of the audience’s time. 4/5 Donnie Yen does, of course, steal a little focus. Credit to him and Yuen Woo-ping though, they both clearly know this is Khan’s movie, and give her a ton of hero moments. There’s no need to cut around anything for Yen, and that makes his action flow even better. The fight with Salvitti, and finale fights with Wong and Michael Woods (also in the first two Tiger Cage films, which shot either side of this one) stand out, as does what is essentially a jousting match shot on dirt bikes. Both action films will be individual releases as part of the Eureka Classics range in their UK debuts on Blu-ray presented from brand new 2K restorations. Not available on home video in the UK since the VHS era. Bruce Jensen on Slaughter in San Francisco | Blu-ray (88 Films) Wow.
