Summer Nights" by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey mentions love at first sight in the form of an unanswered question. Opera plots must be condensed to fit their rendition in music and are thus highly suited to plot lines in which the principals fall in love at first sight. Often, this moment inspires composers to unusually fine music. Abundant examples include:

Commentaries on the Bible often view the account of Isaac's first view of Rebekah (Genesis 24:67) as love at first sight. Another classical interpretation of the phenomenon of "hunger at first sight" is found in Plato's Symposium (c. 385-370 BC), in Aristophanes' description of the separation of primitive double-creatures into modern men and women and their subsequent search for their missing half: "... when [a lover] ... is fortunate enough to meet his other half, they are both so intoxicated with affection, with friendship, and with love, that they cannot bear to let each other out of sight for a single instant." [6] Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque [ edit ] The novel follows the journey of Serenity and Max as they embark on a marriage that began on a reality TV show. The two are strangers when they first meet, but they are determined to make their marriage work. Throughout the story, readers witness the ups and downs of their relationship as they navigate their differences and learn to trust and communicate with each other. The plot also explores the challenges of being in the public eye and the impact that the media and public opinion can have on a relationship. Had it been, it would have been a 4 star read for me, without a doubt. Instead, I felt like the father got it way too easy, and it ended a little too perfectly. And that's what bothered me. Honestly, for having a name like The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and a synopsis promising a British boy named Oliver, this book is pretty damn disappointing. Although it does deliver on the British boy front (who, frankly, really isn't even that great), it doesn't deliver much else. But what if they can’t nail a first date even after three do-overs? What if Arthur tries too hard to make it work and Ben doesn’t try hard enough? What if life really isn’t like a Broadway play? I thought it was supposed to be a fluffy read about love at first sight, as the title and the description of the book are a bit misleading giving you a hint in this direction.

So, this book is a little unbelievable, but so is the idea of love at first sight. And in spite of that, The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight manages to be a cute read. The story takes place over the course of 24 hours during 4th of July weekend, but I can see this being a Hallmark channel Christmas movie with lots of cheese and feels and fluff. I usually don't like insta-love, but this was really sweet and more like insta-maybe, insta-possibilities. Hadley and Oliver spend 3 hours waiting for a plane and 7 hours together on the flight, and then they loose sight of each other at the airport. Now in real life, that would be that, but where's the satisfying ending in that? The film’s decade-long journey to Netflix meant that any possible casting choices the author had in her head while writing it have long since aged out of the parts. “I am so thrilled with Haley and Ben,” Smith says. “They are such a great Hadley and Oliver. They’re so charming and winning, and they have great chemistry. They just did right by the characters.” In fact, wait a sec there. Love might be illogical but marriage and commitment are not. It's a joint effort and as far as I'm concerned, you just don't bail out of it, especially if there are children involved. And I don't like the fact that he gets off the hook so easily and Hadley forgives him. That's not the message I want to hear from this book, Love does not justify all.
