About this deal

There are many options for Top Coats and Sealers for Crafts on the market today. If I asked you what you use as a sealer or top coat, I imagine most would say Mod Podge, Gel Medium, or a clear sealant spray like Krylon Crystal Clear. Some use waxes as a sealer and top coat. I have recently been introduced to Micro Glaze. This is a pretty cool option. Below I break down the sealing and top coating products that I hear about the most and use on my art. I would love to hear what your favorite is in the comments below. Basic Sealing Processes Deconstructed If the candidate for the sealer is bulky and inflexible, it will not seal properly, and the crafting project will fail. Here are some great examples of Mod Podging candidates:

Note: if water is on your Mod Podge project for an extended period of time, you might notice some clouding. sings* I’ve been spending most my years living in the crafter’s paradiiiiiise… power in the money… money in the power… minute after a minute…. hour after hour… If you’re covering an entire glass surface as I did in this dollar store vase project, you don’t have to be as cognizant of where the Mod Podge is going. However, if you put a small photo on a vase (for example), you’re going to want to make sure to stay in the edges as much as possible. Apply a top coat over the item only. Wipe away any excess Mod Podge around the edges. Repeat as desired.

Mod Podge Decoupage Products

To seal your mug, first re-clean it all over since you’ve been handling it and don’t want any lint or oils remaining. Follow the same process as before using 91% isopropyl alcohol.

This is what the “I Need Coffee” funny faces SVG vinyl decal looks like in Cricut Design Space after uploading: Inkjet – Print the picture onto the paper and let it dry for at least ten minutes. Spray both sides of the paper with clear acrylic sealer (several coats) and let it dry. There are waterproof/enamel sealers on the market (ask at your local hardware store). I’ve also heard that Minwax Polycrylic is amazing for sealing and making Mod Podged items waterproof. Do you know of a good non-toxic sealer I can use?

You can use modege podge to affix decorative design elements to any surfaces: furniture pieces, wall art, wearable items, and more. Is Mod Podge really Elmer’s glue? It feels dry within an hour, but I wouldn’t hang up a project or use it until it’s been dry for 24 hours. For Hard Coat, the recommended dry time is 72 hours. Since Hard Coat is typically used on furniture, wait for 72 hours before putting anything on the furniture. Does Mod Podge have a shelf life? At least, in my humble opinion! And I’m looking forward to telling you all the details. What is Mod Podge? Mod Podge: Easy to apply. Good protection. Gloss and Matte finishes. Can be tinted. Adhesive qualities. Some protection from fingerprints. Application: Brush on a thin layer and allow it to dry. Cons: Visible brushstrokes. Can pool at the edges. TIP: A sponge brush or roller can alleviate brush marks. (NOTE: I am referring to the original Mod Podge in this article.)

The only issue is if your item is going to be exposed to extreme heat (like a trivet would be). Then you’ll likely want to use a resin. Learn about Dimensional Magic vs resin here.Of course there is a more detailed answer, but I figured that some of you will want to know immediately and run, so there it is.
