About this deal

This is a heart warming and delightful book that is easy to read, it is about how a child views his or her Mum. Every child looks up to their mother and thinks they can do and be anything and that is exactly what Anthony Browne’s book is about. This book is a tribute to mothers everywhere and children under the age of 8 will find it witty and familiar. Anthony Browne". Author & Illustrator Archive. The Wee Web (theweeweb.co.uk). Anthony Browne’s dad was inspired to write the book when he found his dad’s dressing gown. If you were writing a book about a member of your family, which of their possessions would inspire you? I used to read it with my mum, and sometimes also my dad ( who would smile as we read it, know just how amazing his wife was for doing all the things she did, with minimal fuss).

I particular like the part where it says "my mum could be a dancer, or an astronaut. She could be a a film star (with a Marilyn monroe's look-alike picture of the mum) or the big boss. But she's MY mum". I think this is really the essence of the entire book: regardless of how she is and what she does and what she loves as a hobby or career, she is my mum, and that is the most important part.

"Portrait of the artist as a gorilla. Interview: Anthony Browne". The Guardian. Archived from the original on 7 January 2008 . Retrieved 26 December 2007. This sweet picture-book tribute to fathers is narrated by a young child who describes his own dad, and all of his many amazing qualities. "He's all right, my dad," the text begins, going on to list this one father's many feats - he can jump over the moon, and wrestle giants - and other appealing characteristics. The story concludes with a declaration of love for dad, on the narrator's part, and a corresponding statement that his dad loves him... Browne's school was supportive of his artistic ambitions; however, despite embarking on English and art A-levels, he left without taking the exams. "I was bored," he confesses. "So I left, and did my foundation year at art college in Leeds. And it was in that year that my dad died." Play a word game together taking turns to boast about (an imaginary) dad. My dad is as fast as a ….. My dad is as big as a….. My dad is so clever he can….etc. Play a card game
