A cover of Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle" was a less successful follow up, only reaching number seventeen in the charts. After that, an album was produced, entitled "Neil's Heavy Concept Album." Notes

The album was heavily promoted [ citation needed] by MTV, which had embraced The Young Ones and served as the sole outlet [ citation needed] for the original LP in the US. A television commercial for the album had Neil in character talking about his "really beautiful" album, displaying a hole in his shoe, and hitting his head on the table he was sitting under. Neil, the long suffering Hippy character from the hit TV series “The Young Ones” enjoyed a huge hit with a comic cover version of Traffic’s ‘Hole in My Shoe’ and with this “heavy” album. “Neil’s Heavy Concept Album” was a splendid parody that saw him cover songs such as ‘My White Bicycle’, ‘The Gnome’ and ‘Golf Girl’ and featured contributions from such respected musicians as Dave Stewart (from Progressive band Egg, who also produced the album), Barbara Gaskin, Gavin Harrison, Pip Pyle, Jakko Jakszyk and Jimmy Hastings. Comedians Stephen Fry, Roland Rivron and Dawn French also made appearances. In 2020 he took on the role of Grandpa in the arena tour of David Walliams' Grandpa's Great Escape. Film [ edit ]
