About this deal

I have nothing but a small notebook and a broken pen and the numbers in my head to keep me company. 1 window. 4 walls. 144 square feet of space. 26 letters in an alphabet I haven’t spoken in 264 days of isolation.

To any girl who meets a boy who was "broken" by the way someone in his life treated him, who gets treated horribly by this boy -- run. His brokenness does not make it okay for him to hurt you. His brokenness does not mean that he deserves your forgiveness. There are plenty of people who suffer abuse and do not lash out and abuse the people they "love." Forgiveness is important in life, for sure, but I don't think it plays a role here. There are some things that are unforgivable. And honestly? If Warner genuinely wanted to develop himself and become a better person, it should have been with someone else. To have Juliette degrade herself and regress entirely in her character development to the point that she falls for her abuser was disturbing on a number of insane levels.Love love love this book series. And although I know there are a lot of negative aspects about it and that it isn't perfect, I still think it was pretty good. I don’t wake up screaming anymore. I do not feel ill at the sight of blood. I do not flinch before firing a gun. Isaac, Megan Lynn (Spring 2012). "Mafi, Tahereh: Shatter Me (review)". The Horn Book Guide. 23 (1): 105 . Retrieved 28 October 2014. Dynamic Characters: The characters in this series are multidimensional, with their growth and development taking centre stage. You'll find yourself rooting for them, crying with them and celebrating their victories. However, there was one thing that for me was even more annoying than the descriptions, the similes, the strikes, and that was the stupid repetition thing: "and then and then and then..." Again, if it had been used once, or sparingly even, then it wouldn't be so bad. I may have thought it was an interesting literary technique. But Shatter Me had way way way too much of everything (see what I did there?).

From the magnetic pull of its intricate characters to the compelling narrative full of twists and turns, this series delivers on all fronts. It speaks to the human experience — the struggles, triumphs, love and heartbreak — making it deeply relatable, even amidst the dystopian setting and superhuman abilities. His eyes scan the silhouette of my structure and the slow motion makes my heart race. I catch the rose petals as they fall from my cheeks, as they float around the frame of my body, as they cover me in something that feels like the absence of courage.” Thought-Provoking Themes: From self-discovery to the power of love and the struggle for freedom, the Shatter Me series prompts readers to think deeply about various aspects of human nature and society. I’ve never been a purple prose type of girl. A book that will forever remain nameless spoke of “leaking wombs” and well it made me shiver. It also introduced me to the entire concept of purple prose. Prose can be beautiful. I’ve read plenty of books where the writing touches me deeply and the author is simply writing about the sunset, or a walk in the park, or the plight of the poor. If the author is able to actually tell a story without distracting the reader with the prose, I’m all for it.

Read For Yourself

Besides Juliette's constant whining and lameness and the cringeworthy romances, this story was just a sadder and lamer version of X-Men. It had too many X-Men vibes going on.
