About this deal

Zeus/ Jupiter | Hera/ Juno | Poseidon/ Neptune | Demeter/ Ceres | Ares/ Mars | Athena/ Minerva | Apollo/ Apollo (Roman) | Artemis/ Diana | Hephaestus/ Vulcan | Aphrodite/ Venus | Hermes/ Mercury | Dionysus/ Bacchus | Hades/ Pluto I finally finished this book (although is finishing a book only like a week after it's released actually slow? anyway) But while demigods always carry an overwhelming sense of despair with them — it’s part of the job description — there is a wonderful sense of hope, too. Camp Half-Blood remains a sanctuary for demigods from all over the country and beyond, and we get a wonderful sense of that in this installment. Book Genre: Adventure, Childrens, Fantasy, Fiction, Greek Mythology, LGBT, Middle Grade, Mythology, Urban Fantasy, Young Adult

This is clearly Bast from "The Kane Chronicles" and Mimir from "Magnus Chase." I know because I'm currently re-reading the former and just finished the latter's companion book. Since The Lightning Thief in 2005, Riordan has published around two books a year. He currently has nothing under contract at all, and feels somewhat relieved. He’s still writing, of course, but all he will reveal is that it is “not a mythology book”. The comedy aspect of it all is still very much present - at this point, I think that is a staple of Riordan's books - and I laughed a lot at the same time that I was suffering for everything else.I always love John Rocco’s cover art! This one, like many of them, is more thematic than literal. Not a spoiler, since we have known since book 1 that Apollo will have to face his old enemy Python, who has reclaimed the caverns of Delphi. This scene imagines what that final confrontation might be like. Is Apollo ready for it? He beat Python before only because he had godlike power. Has he gotten strong enough, and learned enough, to overcome Python as the lowly Lester Papadopoulos? Nero says this was revenge for preventing him from burning down the city and that Apollo has done him a favor by getting all the campers in the building. He tells Apollo that him, Meg, and few others would be safe from death in the throne room. He tells him that Python is waiting for his corpse and that he would strike him a deal. He gives him 15 minutes to come up to the throne room alone before he releases the gas. He tells him that if he doesn't come he'll release the gas now and kill everyone inside. With that Nero turns off the call and Apollo turns to Screech-Bling. Screech-Bling tells him that the gas is bad and that Rachel was having visions again and told him to go to that room. Screech-Bling tells him that he will gather some other trogs and try to disable the gas before it goes off and leaves the room to do this task. Apollo realizes how bleak things are when he remembers he can't kill Nero unless Lu had succeeded However, he doesn't have much of a choice since he needs to stall Nero and find Meg. He had fifteen minutes to end Nero or Nero would end him. THE IMPORTANT PART IS THAT NICO INTRODUCED WILL AS HIS BOYFRIEND EVEN THOUGH IN HOUSE OF HADES HE COULDN’T EVEN ADMIT THAT HE WAS GAY. Meanwhile, Tarquin has reached the bookshop where the Sibylline Books are being rewritten, but Ella and Tyson are not there. Meg and Hazel fight Tarquin. Diana finally arrives, kills Tarquin, and heals Apollo. Reyna and Lavinia, along with Peaches the karpos, return. Arion, Hazel's horse, rescues Frank, who has mysteriously survived, and Reyna pledges herself to Diana (Artemis) and joins the Hunters. Dakota, son of Bacchus and the longtime centurion of the Fifth Cohort, passes away overnight due to wounds from the battle. Don the faun also dies and gets reincarnated into a laurel tree, Apollo's tree of victory. Hazel is voted new praetor of Camp Jupiter and Lavinia is voted in as centurion of the Fifth Cohort.

Luguselwa is a fierce warrior and a kind friend. She is also driven and intuitive, being able to use utensils as improvised weapons. Apollo describes the throne room and how strange it looks to him now. While thinking about all this he realizes that all the discussions had stopped when he entered with everyone turning to look at him. Apollo remembers how to enlarge himself again and takes his throne. Zeus studies him and declares that he's returned. Apollo says that he has and asks everyone else who won the betting pool. This makes everyone shift in their seats with Hermes and Ares tying to play it off as just being worried about him. Apollo concludes that Ares must have lost the pool and Hermes says that Athena won. Apollo tries to move the conversation along and from across the room Dionysus says Apollo did a good job, to which Demeter agrees and praises him. Reread ooooooooh, now I understand why "that" moment was in Magnus book 3, they didn't know until then! Line 6 talks about how once Meg and Apollo turn themselves in, their fates are now in Nero's hands. What happens to them now is up to Nero.Pretty close,” Will said. “Definitely in the middle of Venezuela’s biggest Cheez Whiz processing plant." After some searching, Apollo runs past a laptop. Nero video calls the laptop and tells him that he has a plan B: to release Sassanid gas, which is extremely poisonous, and kill everyone in the building, unless Apollo comes to the throne room in fifteen minutes. Apollo tells the troglodytes about the gas trap, and they run to disable it.

But for all his successes, he still misses teaching. At least once a week, he dreams he is standing in the classroom and realises he’s forgotten to do a lesson plan, or grade a bunch of essays.

‘The Trials of Apollo: The Tower of Nero’ by Rick Riordan publishes on September 29, 2020

I could barely keep up with the pain and the angst and the intensity. There were old characters fighting, new characters in the mix, lots of cameos, confusion, and chaos. Lots of sass. Meg McCaffrey: A twelve-year-old demigod daughter of Demeter. She is described as a colorfully dressed street urchin. She is fierce, bossy, and tight-lipped about her past. She has a grain spirit protector named Peaches. She becomes Apollo's master in The Hidden Oracle. The leader is furious and is just about to kill Apollo when he suddenly turns pale and begins to shrivel, leaving nothing but a skeleton. Standing behind the skeleton is Nico di Angelo who tells the frightened technicians that they should leave. Nico grabs him and they leave together to join the battle currently raging.
